    Hi Stu,

Got my kit(s) from www.electrexworld.co.uk they offer you a choice of kits that inc lighting connectors or without.

    Quite speedy (before Covid19) service as well;

No idea of ease of fitting, as I didn't do it .........but from what i was told be the guy who did, reasonable easy to do.

100% agree - stay safe. And surely let's not make this forum for haters or political statements. It's for TRIALS. Plenty of other forums/websites etc for anger/hate/vitriol.

Cue a load of negative responses :)

And support your local dealer where you can (obvs. via website delivery).

What's everyone doing at the weekend...

Hopefully sorting out (replacing) leaking oil seal behind front sprocket on the TY.............if I can get sprocket nut undone  ?

I'll keep clear of the "who's doing it best" discussion, or "what's appropriate activity".

My main concern as it relates directly to trials is that with Italy and Spain being hit so hard what's going to happen to all the manufacturers?

Dealers are obviously in the firing line too, but, ignoring the personal calamities that might occur, dealerships are far more agile than manufacturers. The names, faces and knowledge may change, but if there's a manufacturer then there will be someone ready to deal them.

I've little doubt that new bike sales are going to take a hit. Probably used bikes too I'm guessing. That's not going to help the manufacturers get back on their feet. Could make for some good deals on NOS bikes though ?

Torrot is a decent size company, so I expect Spain will help them stay afloat if needed, but GasGas trials can't be a huge money spinner or employer so could they be part of a paring down / cost cutting?

Sherco / Scorpa - small manufacturer, who knows what support they might need or get.

Beta - ?? no idea really. I'd guess they'd be in line for government support if needed, but that queue's going to be a long one.

Electric Motion - again, no idea. Small company, maybe that's good, maybe it's bad. At least they are dominant in their own category.

JGas - From the number I see around the place it amazes me they're still in business anyway. No clue what their situation is, perhaps e-bicycles will keep them afloat. If they do survive then perhaps they'll be in a good place to move into the E-Trials era I've no doubt is coming.

Only time will tell, and undoubtedly each country will be doing it's best to try to retain any and all industries, and presumably export businesses will be particularly precious.

I'm certainly not going out panic buying parts for my bike, but it does concern me which manufacturers are going to come out of this, at least in the shorter term.

Perhaps we'll all be on Japanese built Honda and maybe Yamaha in a few years? No doubt they'll all be electric anyway. Perhaps that's the silver lining for trials, this shake up might accelerate the move to E-Trials.

    Some interesting (and sobering) points raised here;

As you so rightly say, those of us lucky enough to survive this virus, will still have our bikes and there will be trials to ride in, already there are those, maybe's some fellow riders, who will never get the chance to do so again.

    Lets ALL stay safe

I'm sorry but I disagree totally with this stupid lock down!

You would have to be doing some pretty Big Stuff to require an ambulance. I just sprained my ankle and that's a rare injury for me - but I wouldn't dream of bothering the NHS; I'm happy to self-medicate at home.

I appreciate very much the huge effort that front line NHS staff are putting in, primarily because they have been so badly let down by the dick-heads in charge, who couldn't organise the proverbial in a brewery. This is/was the UK Government's forward planning document for just such a pandemic - it says 'Flu' but is applicable to this situation...

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/responding-to-a-uk-flu-pandemic

Basically, it's complete pants! All of the steps that have been carried out so far, and all of the reactive actions carried out by the Government are not mentioned once in this document.

Because of their utter, utter uselessness they have basically trashed the economy and many, many people, most likely the younger generation, will be paying for this for years.

If they had taken much earlier steps to isolate people in the high-risk category and to increase their supplies of ITU beds, then most likely the rest of us could have gone about our business largely as usual. They've even shunned help from the EU to join a group Ventilator purchase programme! ?

    Hmm....................not going to get drawn into a 'flame' war here, you are entitled to your views, of course....and the right to express them, I, along with others on the 'front line', be they NHS staff, (all) shop workers/food suppliers, council workers, in fact anyone who is not able to either work from home......or have an enforced period off work...in the most part with pay,........are still putting not just their own health, but that of family, on the line, may not be agreement with your views;

The ACU considers trials sufficiently safe that they don’t mandate any medical cover for trials. But then tell us not to practice because we will be putting pressure on the NHS. Meanwhile walkers are stepping off pavements into the road willy-billy to maintain their 2m separation.

I guess if you have your own practice area - where you don't have to leave your address,- to travel too, you might be ok,......obviously hoping you do not need the services of the NHS, if you don't, and would need to travel to practice, (assuming you could find a practice area open, and with guide lines already in place they shouldn't be).....the the message, is STAY WHERE YOU ARE.

(Yes I work for the NHS,  Yes I also have trial's bikes I would love to ride)

  7. Ok furher to above topic, just replaced gear shaft oil seal due to oil passing it, checked and refilled oil to correct capacity and checked  what I think is gearbox breather tube, which is clear............upon starting and allowing tick over, find I'm now getting oil running out from behind gearbox sprocket (gear shaft seal is oil tight)

    Any idea's,.........?

Great bikes, can you not get miranelli parts anymore ?

No idea re parts for Miraneli; Its got  Ty50 engine currently fitted. (and TBF it fitted and looks like it belongs there)

Not interested in buying it and reliving your youth  ? ?

    Hi andy

the mods aren’t too bad at all ! To be honest you are giving away the chassis and motor - I even thought of buying it for the money to build another and sell it on !!

i would sell the yam engine and go for it - would make a fantastic bike with the Honda engine

    cheers

    john

    Hi John,

Room and time, I'm afraid are against me..............I only picked this one up as I was finding sourcing another 123 montesa engine for smallest Cota..........after trying spain, france and the states, one pops up in Hampshire.................

Four trials bikes in the garage leaves no working room for anything else..........?

    Looking to move Italyam on............

    All the best

    Andy

  11. This is just what I was planning to do with my italyam, (which is for sale in classifieds if anyones been given some ideas ?)

Would have been going along the lines of a 100cc  twostroke as I don't have the fabrication skills to safely alter is frame, even though I've got the 'perfect motor awaiting its time (a 90cc Honda with gearbox (not auto)

    All the best

I made the below post a couple weeks ago and didn't get any replies.  So, perhaps someone could chime-in on this follow-on question I have.  A friend of mine rode Dalesman trials bikes

(with PUCH motor) back in the early 1970s.  He told me all three of his bikes he had (with the PUCH) all "lost" first gear and that it is nearly impossible/very difficult to fix; I assume what's

happening is that the first gear teeth break off the spline.  He tells me this is a very common problem with the PUCH 125cc motors in the trials bikes.   Besides not riding the bike, does anyone

have a suggestion that could reduce the chances from this happening?  I was thinking of preserving the 125cc PUCH motor and placing a 175cc PUCH motor in the bike.   Thanks.

I recently purchased a Dalesman with Puch motor;  I believe the Trials model.  I've searched the internet intently to find some basic information about the Dalesman and motor, but not finding what I need.  I'm looking for basic service information (or website references) such as oil type and quantity, ignition setting/servicing, fork oil amount, OEM rear shock length, etc.  and where to get Puch engine parts (if needed).  Although I will keep as original as possible, it would be nice to know what, if any, after market items can be installed on the bike, such as carburator upgrade, ignition replacement parts, etc.

Forks are 35mm, but has no lower fixing points for a lower mudguard.

Thanks in advance for any replys.

Hi here,  nice to see one's made it into preservation,  it was generally agreed that whilst willing, the Puch  gearing was certainly not trials friendly.

    for maybe's help in your quest, try Classic Motorcycle Forum which has assisted in the past with answers and advice;

Look under the British bikes thread.

    So, completely different bottom end?

    Clutch plates?

I was always under the impression the TYZ was pretty much a water cooled top end on a TY Mono bottom end.

Even the side cases look similar-ish....

Then again, i've never seen one in the flesh nor had a motor on the bench....

Was wondering that, myself, hence asking the question...............certainly generator cover looks (and here I'm  like thai-ty having never seen a TYZ in the flesh) he same,

Also was interested that the monoshock unit wouldn't fit, but looking at the swing arm unit on a TYZ (via good ol ebay) I can see they are different.

Again hanks to all who've replied

The original motor is by Minarelli, like the others SWM, Aprilia and Fantic, but different modificated.

There has been a version with 80ccm too.

There are photos and for sale postings when you search using Google Images. For dating your bike, if it has gold rims then most likely it would be from the same year that the bigger Italjet trials bikes had gold rims. Italjet trials bikes were only made for a few years 82 - 84 I think. I searched on "Italjet mini trials". Here's another photo

    bf57150a7cd375080a59cc83b56c864e.jpg

Cheers for that,............I did actually think of google pic's search after posting thread. Was hoping to fit a slightly larger cc motor into frame (ty50 fitted at the mo) but it would involve a certain amount of altering.............so I'll offer it for sale (when I get some pic's done), if no takers maybe's I'll re-think.

  16. Have just picked up an italjet rolling chassis (with TY50 engine installed), can anyone id model (details taken from headstock) Italjet 25969 and underneath U6M 5U135 UM  Read these through paint, so maybe's slightly different.

Another odd feature is fuel tank is in two halves, so two fuel taps and two filler caps,

Chassis is painted blue and tank(s) are green plastic. wheel rims are gold.

machine was brought  for a project...........but frame seems too good to alter, so anyone interested ?

Just looked at cyclesvant ebay hes got lost of parts I didnt get a chance to strip the gearbox hopefully this week I will get to it does any one know what year this bike might be

It looks like it's a late model, (badge'd Montesa/Honda),  MH123 so would hazard a guess at  mid 80's

Main difference over the earlier 123 cota is full sized wheels, exhaust system

Another source worth trying for pars etc, In Motion and www.Vallmoto.com in spain.

    All the best
