  1. Dan, thank you for your suggestion. At the moment the engine is idling - not perfectly - providing it is set for no less than 2000 rpm; dying occasionally. I thought it would be a simple adjustment but I will do what you and Lineaway says since I have to take it out anyway. I found it quite satisfying to repair something on the bike and then go out and test it. Thank you
  2. Thanks Lineaway, it is an idea but I need to sort out the mixture first.
  3. Hi, I have recently bought Beta 270 rev3 2008 and tried to adjust idle speed with little success. The engine does not run smoothly and if I adjust it for less than 2000 rpm it dies (the manual says more than 1000rpm). When I fiddled with the knob on the cable extension from the air screw (it was either stuck or turning badly) to find out what position it was in the cable broke off. I am not an expert but I think there must be a reason for the cable, say if you operate the bike in extreme environment for example. Can somebody please advise me (before I take it out for a good look and find out I cannot do anything without the new part): 1, do I need a new cable with air screw or can it be re-attached? I could not find anyone who would sell extension cable with the screw. Any pointers? 2, do I need a cable at all? Can be an air screw reached and adjusted with hand/screwdriver? 3, I read there is a setting for air screw 1½ out which I am translating as fully in and that amount of turning anticlockwise out. Is it good for general condition or does it need to be adjusted according to weather, altitude etc. Thank you in advance for any help
  4. Hi guys! I am new in Trials and these exact figures makes me smile when I remember how we used to mix the fuel many many years ago. Anyway - when you look at the manual it says: 1.5% of synthetic oil OR 4% of mineral oil which makes 1:25 ratio. I personally think it is bit rich and smoky (chain saw runs on 1:50) but there you are. If you are using mineral oil, there is a cheap and cheerful mixing bottle in Screwfix: https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-hp-120-2-stroke-engine-oil-mixing-bottle/46908?_requestid=617461 BTW, have you seen a manual for Beta 2008 which would have a maintenance schedule clearly readable and pictures unobstructed by pinky blobs?
