  1. Many thanks to all of you for the solutions - a mighty relief I can tell you. Me first Villiers project will now not be confined to dark corner of shed. Cheers!
  2. Hi, am working on a 30C engine (similar to 8E) . Just put new mains in the crankcases, and drew the 2 crankcases together using longer bolts. Now the r/h crank web (Ignition side) is touching the inside of the crankcase. There were no thrust washers on the crank when I stripped it,and online diagrams show none present. What determines the 'end float' / centralisation of the crank anyway? Once I tighten the primary drive sprocket fully will that pull the crank away from the opposite case, a quick tighten has already moved it a little.... Thanks in advance, for any help to ease my frustration with this
  3. Good to see another Dalesman returning to action. If it's any help to you I've got a lot of Dalesman photos/brochures up on my Flickr page here: across pages 2-5 ,and a bit about my own Dalesman project here: scroll down page a little. Good luck with your restoration!
  4. Mystery solved -thanks to some info from the chap at Villiers Services -it's off a Norman, they used Blumfield hubs on a few of their machines e.g TS,and the B1S Norman B1S
  5. Hi there, have acquired a 19" rear wheel which appears to be from a lightweight British bike. Brake plate is marked TF Blumfield. I know they did some front hubs/brakes for Velocette Venoms but this is not off a small Velo.. Can't get any more info on 'net. Any ideas if it's something rare before I start hacking about and swapping to alloy rim etc.Pics here Thanks in advance, much appreciated. http://www.loydee.blogspot.com/
  6. Hi, have just acquired what I assume is a 150 Villiers engine with 55mm bore. The gearbox, primary & flywheel mag seem fine. Unfortunately it's seized, so rather than rebuild this probably underpowered unit, I was wondering if a 197 bottom/top end would fit into the existing gearbox, primary, mag set-up? Thanks in advance... 7. For a diagram go to http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm select 1981 then TS185 then clutch. Great bikes -I ride em in Twinshock Enduros and Hillclimb -( www.loydee.blogspot.com for TS185 ramblings!) Good luck.

    Fantic 200

Thanks for your help re: tap. I ain't looked at it for a while but think the tank has a hexagon shaped recess and the nut on the tap just pushes into it on mine,i.e it's not held captive by the plastic. Inside the tank there is NO nut at all (mind you it'd be hard to fit it on the tap's thread anyway given the lack of room...). Seems like either bits missing or the tank/tap junction is buggered. May see about having a threaded collar inserted (or a cheap 2nd hand tank! )

    Fantic 200

Hi am also in the process of rebuilding my Fantic 200. Came in a bad way from Newark jumble with a worn big end, a moped back wheel, bent swingarm and bright purple & silver. However it ran and was
  10. Hi after years of waiting came to try out me Fantic 200 (Back-kick model) and seems like clutch is stuck. Maybe due to standing I know but I also had some of the pushrod parts fall out a coupla years ago when I fitted an extended arm (for lightness). Just in case I fitted in wrong what is correct order please. As engine is lying on clutch side what order do you insert components down the tunnel? Thanks :-)
  11. Yeah had similar thing on 198 Bultaco -ran fine then let me down at start of 1st event. Went to replace points/stator assembly and took seal out to behold a main bearing minus some of it's outer cage :-(
  12. VintageCota - thanks very much, information passed on.
  13. Have been asked for ignition timing for Cota 348 and can't find said info on the net, anyone know? Thanks!
  14. Seeing as there's very little internet material on Dalesman I've posted some literature on http://groups.msn.com/TwinshockInfo/shoebox.msnw. I hope this is of some use.
  15. I posted on here re my Dalesman project back in August 13th -still in old posts -and received a lot of helpful information . I have some copied brochures and stuff (ta Simon 'Cleanorbust') email me on loyd.lisa.sims@@virgin.net (remove an @) if you want anything scanned
  16. Thanks for pointing us to that Kickstart vid. There's some more Kickstart from R2W on their site ,here: http://www.r2wtrials.co.uk/html_files/weblinks.html. Not twinshock but still Lejeune etc.
  17. So, 236 of you kindly looked in but couldn't ID this tank. Oh well I'm gonna go with my hunch then that this was a one-off self made tank. That fits in with the appearance of the panel edges/welds. Forgot to say it has 'David Green' in letraset on top ....?? Thanks Loydee
  18. I've acquired this Aluminium tank which has Triumph transfers on but I don't know what model it's for,can anyone help. I've just set up an MSN group to place some pics of it : Twinshock Info I don't need it so would be willing to swap/px for a TL125 bottom end or Dalesman bits or 70s Suzuki MX/Trail stuff. Thanks in advance Loydee
  19. Hi if you go on my primitive 'website' www.twinshock.info the only article I've got around to adding is a test of Moto gori MT200/350 & ITALJET JT350, immense amounts of GREEN!
  20. A BIG thanks to all who took the time to post info. Thanks to Simon "cleanorbust" who sent me loads of Dalesman/wassell/saracen etc leaflets my bike is definitely a Dalesman, now just got to nick the engine from the M125 fix the fork yoke, find a tank/seat (anyone?)and so on !An enjoyable project and hope to be competing on it in the next year.Of course if anyone would like any of the excellent info I now have they are welcome.Cheers Loydee PS Yes Bill Brooker joined Dalesman as Joint MD in Spring 1971
  21. Hi there just bought a "Wassell" rolling chassis but seems more like a Dalesman. It has a very close almost parallel duplex frame with rails under the engine. It has Puch wheels.Looks like MP forks (with bolt-on 'ears' for lockstops). I have a Puch M125 engine for it. My questions are: What's the difference between a Wassell and a Dalesman? Where on the net can you find info on these bikes, can't find much at all.Any help is much appreciated, thanks for taking the time to read this. Mine looks closest to this one: Cheers Loydee
  22. Hi people just introducing myself. Fairly new, done 4 trials on me TY 175 -loving it. 9 other bikes/projects and off to seek help on Twinshock forum for the latest, a Dalesman of all things. Good forum, cheers, Loydee
