  3. totalshell cheers for your advice/ a needle file would be a good start but i never thought about reducing the gap though nice one i am always pretty skint truth be told however even if i had loads of spare cash i would always try and repair everything- not only are you saving the planet but you see exactly how something works. i ride old ty`s my latest is a pinky and what i lack in sleek power and finesse i gain with sheer courage and determination brrrrmmmm!!!!! cheers again i`m away out to the shed to fix my pinky! andy bone.
  4. gear lever or the kickstart come to think about it but mainly the gear lever . you see its rounding on me. i have used already a screw whiched worked for a while and now i wonder if i should drill through the lever and shaft and bolt it? what does anyone think? cheers now andy bone.
  5. How goes my like minded distant friends? well since i last posted anything i have bought myself a couple of new bikes. still ty`s but now i am the pround owner of a ty 250 pinky and a ty 80 small wheeled for my son. However there is a problem. the pinkey has the loudest clattering engine i`ve ever heard. i still have alot of power, alot more than the 175 i`ve been riding, it certainly does put a smile on my face even now as i write this post! So anyway back to the point. does the clattering engine mean that i should need to replace the piston and rings and then rebore? And if so where would i send it and how much might it cost? i look forward to your respected views and replys andy bone.
  6. for the record these mini motos and dirt bikes are basically rev and go they share the same engines as strimmers so if the engine revs but does not turn the front sprocket it has to be either 1 the gearbox 2 the clutch in my case it was the latter simply a spring had come loose on the clutch - unfortunatley it go mangled so i have to buy a new one the good thing though about these chinese imports is that all the spare parts are as cheap as chips. but i cant help to thinking i1m gonna need alot of them! see ya now andy bone.
  7. mmm wheel rebuilds expensive! what i did to my ty rear wheel is 1 scrape away all the crud around the wheel 2 cut the old inner tube to fit around the old freshly scraped rim 3 gaffa tape the old inner tube so it will not move 4 purchase a can of goop - puncture prevention goo 5 fit new inner tube over old one 6 fit tyre over inner tubes 7 squirt goop into inner tube 8 inflate and ride 9 the goop guys say it will last for 50,000 without a punture i did mine a few months ago and havent looked back. granted most things i do on motorbikes is on a budget but hey if it works - it works oh! and i trial quite hard - jumps and crashes etc..... good luck anyway whatever you do the most important thing is get the wheel back on the bike lie to your boss about dentist etc and get out there
  8. funny one- all i did was just as you said and "roberts your dads brother" nice one! andy.
  9. swing arm is as good as in the back thanks everynoe for all your help and advice it really was above and beyond the call of duty andy.
  10. well am i glad i joined this forum. today has been full of mixed emotions. i secured and payed for a swing arm for my ty - joy however i was giving my sons` midi moto a wee service and found the front sprocket does not turn even with me on it and revving the a*** out of it. i could get it to free off evey now and again and when it was free it seemed fine but in my trying i have now popped the tyre and inner tube - the tyre must be about 2mm thick i am prepared for dogs abuse about buying a chinese import i also dont know why it will only run with the choke out/on. the build quality and parts are pretty cheap but it does the wee fella fine when its going. we just go up and down the forestry tracks and he loves it. hes still too wee to go on my ty175 and i thought that this would at least get him a feel for dirt bikes and it was within my budget. however budget seems to be the operative word! any spanner nuts out there? please help me . andy bone.
  11. 2747 dale nice one my friend I emailed the" barrel guy"who said he`d sell me one. i hope something nice happens to you kind regards andy bone.
  12. i have recently found a quarry just 1 mile from my house and have made my missus a trials widow( once or twice i thought i actually came a little too close to making her an actual widow but i never told her) i have just put a 52 tooth sprocket on the back and wow what a different machine. Now for the "oh no" bit. I was climbing up one of the scree slopes when i thought my chain had come off and we had a wee slide down the bank. At the bottom i realised that the chain had come off - because i had snapped my swing arm. My question to the group is where the hell am i going to get a new swing arm for a ty175? And can you weld swing arms to any effect? i`ve got to get it fixed so i can get back out, i`m already feeling stressed and need to get back out to master the quarry. please help andy bone. ps. great forum!
