And the most shocking part of your statement if I understood the feeling behind it is that you expect the UK to buy only British cars ?...then the UK is really f****d.
What, you not ordering up a new Rolls Royce?
I think the legacy of the Lucas electrics will live on for a long time! Yet I was surprised to see the Mini Cooper go to BMW! Seems they lost out on that!
We are seeing those Smart Cars here now! What a joke!
Seems they are offering up Triumph motorbikes! Look sweet!
Obviously I will need to post some updated pics, yet it seems I have few over the time.
Mush was just a work in slow progress, including a change in the pair of wings, as the original ones from this were unsatisfactory due to mods and repairs.
The stripping and revamp of the new set along with the controls and fuel system was a major setback and time element, yet long hard nasty work ovet time prevailed, and this last year all the wing main components including control surfaces were finished and painted!
As it is once again winter, I am reminded of the last winter, when I spent much time doing upside down chores under the instrument panel and radios, which now are working as well!
I'll get some more modern pics, as things are coming together now! In the last few weeks much has occured including installation of the wings and controls, rigging and even fresh fuel in the tanks with a run of the motor and taxi tests! WOW!
As I don't really do the BLOG thing, I was spending a major part of the day today doing some major revamps on the computer in the shop, including a new hard drive install which takes forever! Transferring a lot of bits and such, I was looking at the piccie file and came across one which I shall post from mid '05 showing my ongoing Cessna project! By this point, I had been on it for a while as the motor had been revamped and the fuselage had been stripped and the base white applied. Many other repairs done along the way including new glass! Ready for striping!
As all things done as a labor of love in what spare time one can muster, about two years on into the project after taking weekends off to ride!!
I don't know whether it's true or an urban myth. Regardless it's a good yarn. There was a story a few years ago, during one of the (many) US/Japan trade wars that a group of US farmers decided to buy local, so John Deere it was and sod Kubota. Problem was that the John Deeres were made in Japan and the Kubotas in The US.
But yeah I agree with your statement. Now can I stop buyng MacDonalds?
Yes, the burgers suck, but you can still get the fries!
You see, there is a simple and realistic reality to it all. It seems that many years ago the Japaneese, then the Koreans, next China, started flooding the markets with cars of all types!
Almost too many makes and models to list!
This diluted the manufacturing in the UK, then others followed, even the Germans are now hard pressed! I know noone that can afford them here!
Exporting of jobs and industry and parts has diluted things further!
When will people finally realize that if they do not support their own economy first, they will have little else?
I read this many years go, yet cannot recall the origin. Still holds true!
The wealth of nations is(are) based upon its(their) natural assets. Go figure! Mineral, aggricultural, whatever!
If all our money keeps going east, they will soon be the ones with it all. If you are daft enough to think that just because Honda or Toyota builds an assembly plant in you country for your good, think again! The profits are NOT!
i will be visiting my wifes family in texas for the new years weekend and would love to do some riding. maybe the friday / saturday before heading home on sunday. we will be in the mckinney area. i've been to red river park lots of times but that appears to be about and 1 1/2 hour drive from the inlaws house.
anyone know where i could ride closer to mckinney?
thanks
rob
There is a small group that usually rides Saturdays, weather permitting, at Lake Brigeport, closer, about an hour away, good place to ride!
Take 380 west from McKinney to Biidgeport. Mind you, you are going to LAKE Bridgeport! FM 1658is basically the first right past Bridgeport! You will still need to stop and pay at the Twin Hills store on the right, as the property entrance is accross the road on the left!
A farmer went out one day and bought a brand new stud rooster for his chicken coop. The new rooster struts over to Kenny the old rooster and says,
'OK old fart, time for you to retire.'
Kenny the old rooster replies, 'Come on, surely you cannot handle ALL of these chickens. Look what it has done to me. Can't you just let me have the two old hens over in the corner?'
The young rooster says, 'Beat it: You are washed up And I am taking over.'
The old rooster says, 'I tell you what, young stud. I will race you around the farmhouse. Whoever wins gets the exclusive domain over the entire chicken coop.'
The young rooster laughs. 'You know you don't stand a chance, old man. So, just to be fair, I will give you a head start.'
Kenny the old rooster takes off running. About 15 seconds later the young rooster takes off running after him. They run round the front porch of the farmhouse and the young rooster has closed the gap.
He is only about 5 feet behind the old rooster and gaining fast. The farmer, meanwhile, is sitting in his usual spot on the front porch. When he sees the roosters running past, Kenny the Old Rooster is squawking and running as hard as he can.
The Farmer grabs his shotgun and
- BOOM -
He blows the young rooster to bits. The farmer sadly shakes his head and says,
'Dammit.....Third gay rooster I bought this month.'
Funny you mention that , as I was speaking with the driver for the Dodge Motorsports rig for the Baja 1000 this week! Seems there is no budget for them next year either!
These are the Rad Big Rigs of trucks! Costs a fortune to run that stuff!
Of course ,possibly this explains why Pastrana's Scooby trailer is just setting next door to my shop?
Its normal, I think its the clutch plates rattling in the clutch hub, when you pull in the clutch this applies some pressure to the plates and stops them rattling. All my pros have done this
What Baldi is saying is 'they sound like a friggin rattlecan'--normal! Drives me nuts!
I agree, but at some point the Chinese will turn their attention to quality rather than quantity, and the economies of the UK and USA will be sunk. Japanese cars were laughed at in the 70s, so don't think the Chinese will not be able to do the same. But don't worry, we will still have our service industries and our Starbucks.
Big John, glad you like it!
And they will go union soon so we cannot afford them!
Mmm the post with the actual email address seems to have disappeared? Someone at work again, are they not allowed to post the contact address if asked for by Joe Blogs ?
You noticed that too, along with my question!
Hey, MarkyBoy never answered my question either! I think!
