  1. The seals I was sold were like a band and didn't seem to have any kind of a lip, I looked at them for some while trying to decide if they were tapered in some way but they seemed to be a flat band. I need to get some more so I'll ask Lampkins and this time try a bit of 35mm film. Cheers.
  2. I have just tried to re-buid the back brake caliper on a 2004 Rev-3 as the pistons were seized. It now has new pistons and seals but they leak. I have removed the pistons and found small slithers cut from the new seals which has occurred when I fitted the pistons . Can anyone tell me how to fit the pistons without damaging the seals. ( last time I used a silicone grease spray to re-fit them )
  3. I've got a problem with my 2004 TXT 200, I keep getting coolant in the gearbox oil. I've re-built the water pump but the problem continued so I sent the pump up to gas gas and the've re-built it but the problem still continues. Is there another route for coolant get in there other than via the water pump. Any ideas anyone ?
  4. PeterB, Thanks for your help, looks like you're right, the fluid level is down. I've had the water pump off tonight and put a new seal and shaft in it. despite 2 oil changes it still comming out a bit grey and I'm convinced the coolant level has gone down so maybe I haven't got the seal in right. But at least I appear to be going down the right avenue. Cheers, Tim.
  5. My GG TXT200 decided to start pumping gearbox oil out of the breather pipe over the weekend. Whilst this was happening, the engine note changed and it felt like it was slightly starved of fuel. It wasn't until I stopped that I noticed oil all over the back shock and s/arm. I've since drained it and got nearly 700ml out which is strange as I drained it about a month ago and only put 450ml in which suggests I didn't get it all out despite the oil being hot when I last drained it. I've put some more oil in, only about 400ml, but as soon as you start the engine it's still pumping out and the engine doesn't sound as sweet as it was. It would seem there is pressure in the g/box / clutch, does this sound like a crank case seal gone? Any views anybody ? I was thinking of taking it to Stevens Trials in Kent, has anyone any experience of them ?
  6. Thanks for all the the advice, the Sherco site was excellent. I have investigated the problem further this morning and found that there is a sealer band but a previous owner has had problems with it and applied some kind of black mastic all over. it's now out and the rim is in a right state and will take a fair bit of cleaning. Anyone know where I can buy a new sealer rim on line, I will need a new one as this one has had it. Finally, I'm only half sure I know what a beader is, I was going to lever the tyre back on, should I not attempt this.
  7. I've just bought a 2000 Rev 3 which has a fairly new back tyre which won't hold any pressure for much more than about half an hour. The air seems to be escaping from where the spokes are attached to the rim. I have spoken to Lampkins about this to see how to cure it and they suggest I strip out the, what looks like, black mastic and re-do it. Has anyone done this and what products have they used. Cheers, Tim.
