    Chain Question

Can anyone tell me how many links there are in an 02 GG 280 pro chain? I know I can count them but I forgot to last night and want to order a new chain today. 101 links sounds familiar. I was going to order a 110 and cut it. I just want to make sure I order it long enough. Many thanks!

    97 Scorpa Easy

Hoping you Scorpa enthusiast can help me out. Was wondering how the early Rotax machines were (are)? My 15 year old son wants to start trials riding with me. I have been offered a mint 97. Almost no hours on it. It looks like it rolled off the showroom floor. The price is hard to pass up. And you know how kids interest change like the wind so I didn't want to through big $$ at it until I'm sure he will actually stick with it. Any advice would be welcome.
  4. Yeah, they sure don't make filling it easy do they. And on an angle no less. But the Spanish always seemed to have their own ideas about things. I used to ride Ossa's back in the day and they had a lot of unusual engineering, loved them though ...uh oh, now I'm given away my age The Squeeze bottle seems like a good idea. American GG recommends GM transfer case fluid. At 400cc's does it show in your window when the bike is level? Thanks again
  5. Is the transmission fluid supposed to be in the middle of the sight glass on an 02 Pro? I know GG calls for 350cc in the 02 and 400cc in an 04. I'm not sure if 350cc would bring it in the middle of the sight window or not I just got the bike an I can see fluid if I tip the bike toward the throttle side. I don't want to use it till I've checked everything over. I guess I could just drain and refill with 350cc's.
  6. Thanks again everyone! So like the Spanish bikes of my youth, the fine tradition of no-neutral with the engine lit lives on!
  7. Thanks I think your right and it's most likely fine.
  8. Help I just got an 02 280 Pro. Handlebars were off for shipping. To a few pumps of the brake lever to get them to work however, not sure if the clutch is working. Is pull supposed to be so light? Sorry, this is my first trials bike. I can here something happening at the slave end when I pull the lever in but before I go slam it into gear with the engine running, I like to make sure it's fully disengaging. How do you bleed this system? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Hey thanks all I know this is always a hot topic, at least in the states here. I guess we all need something to obsess about eh? I think us motorheads are more passionate about our brand of oil than our women! (Maybe thats why our divorce rate is so high??) I like the film case idea. I'm sure I have some kicking around the house somewhere. Anyone using Mobil MXT2? Thanks again everyone.
  10. Hi all Just bought an 02 Gas Gas TXT280 Pro. Wondering what type of 2 stroke oil everyone is running in their bikes. The previous owner used Bel-Ray H1-R at 100:1. A lot of KTM guys I know are running Mobil MX2T because its readily available at Auto Zone and is also a good deal. Seems to work well also. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  11. Hello all Looking to get a trials bike to give me more ride opportunities. I've located an 01 Sherco 2.5, 01 & 02 Scorpa's, and a Gasser TXT280 Pro. All in good condition. All for around the same dollars plus or minus a few hundred. Don't know enough about any of them to make a decision. Some are from private parties, others from dealers. I'm stuck in Analysis Paralysis Heard the GG pro's have some clutch Trans issues. I've heard Scorpa's are reliable with the yamaha eng. And they really look industrial too. Any help would be welcome!
