  1. At the moment the TC forums use the "lo-fi" skin for iPhones. It's very basic, and unlike some other sites there doesn't seem to be the option to switch to the full version.

Please can we have the option to view the full version of the forums on an iPhone? Or just ditch the lo-fi version?

    Thanks!

  2. I've broken the plastic "sight glass" on the front brake master cylinder of my 2003 Rev 3 (it's an AJP master cylinder, I don't know if it's different on other years).

I called Lampkins, but apparently this critical little bit of plastic isn't available as a spare so I either try to bodge it with some glue or buy a new master cylinder which doesn't seem like a good use of

  3. As far as I'm concerened Ebay is no worse than any other way of buying or selling second hand stuff, and due to its reach it's often better. There's plenty of scope to get burnt, but a little common sense goes a long way - I've bought and sold cars and bikes on Ebay, some of them unseen, with no problems at all.

Since they changed the feedback rules for buyers, when I am selling I would now prefer to end the auction early with a committed buyer rather than run the risk of a dreamer or idiot making the highest bid.

  4. I ended up observing this afternoon after riding one lap of a trial,my 10 yr old son was observing for the first time - he got very fed up with it,desparate to get it right for everyone.Reason for it - riders entering the section without being asked.
After you've fived the first few, word will get around quite quickly!
  5. I posted a message to the thread about the trials practice area at Tonymoto, but the whole thread seems to have disappeared today. Is this more database problems, or should I be looking for black helicopters? :P

Does anyone know what the latest situation is with Tonymoto? Yoyo - your PM box is full . . .

  6. I entered my first LDT last weekend and had a fantastic time!

That's not me by the way. I was having a lie down by the time I got to that bit of the section. More pictures and a bit of blathering here

I'm really surprised that there isn't more discussion about LDTs here. I'm definitely planning to do some more - these are currently in my diary:

20 July - Timber Woods LDT - Sidcup, Kent

21 September - OK Supreme LDT - Stratford

    5 October - Witley LDT - Hampshire

    Anyone else?

  7. After looking at various options I ended up buying a very nice six seat LWB T4. Way cheaper than a decent Vito or a T5, and (fingers crossed!) less to go wrong.

Wasn't really planning on a LWB, but it does mean I can easily get a couple of bikes in without messing about with the back seats. It's a bit of a squeeze in some car parks, but doesn't seem too bad so far.

  8. So if it's a very late or new vehicle you're after, then I'd say buy the one that you like the look of best and has the nearest dealer to you. If you're buying earlier, then I'd tip the scales in favour of the VW.
That seems to fit with what I've heard from other people too. Both the Vito and T5 post ~2005 seem to be good. I don't want to spend that much so a T4 is looking favourite at the moment.
  9. I'm thinking of getting a van, but not sure what to go for. I want six seats (two rows of three), but don't want anything massive.

A Vito Dualiner looks good (and has passenger doors on both sides which is a bonus) or a Transporter Kombi - both SWB.

Any views on either of these? Or a better alternative?

    Ta!

  10. Slamming gears into mesh doesn't make me comfortable about what it does to the transmission.

I just do the std Beta drill: Before starting, pull the shifter up into highest gear. Hold clutch lever in, rock bike back and forth until it breaks loose. Shift back down, find Neutral (very important step!), then start the bike.

I think I've found an even easier method:

    - put the bike in first gear

    - keep the clutch in and rock the bike until it unsticks

    - still keep the clutch in and start the bike in gear

    - ride off as normal

If the clutch refuses to unstick when you rock the bike then this isn't going to work, but it's been good for me so far. No messing about, nocrashing of gears.

  11. Fancy going a bit faster? I know we've got quite a few people around the southeast, so I thought this might be of interest to one or two . . .

I was talking to Ady Smith of Ady Smith KTM off-road schools fame today, about the possibility of organising a two day enduro school at their Eastbourne site in January or February next year.

This would be a step up from the more common "try out" or "experience" days, with the emphasis on improving skills rather than just "having a go". Previous off road experience isn't esential, but you'll need generally confident bike skills.

The enduro schools are normally held in Rugeley, Staffs but Ady is happy to run one dahn saaf if there's enough interest. We would need 7 - 10 people for this to happen.
