  1. I've just bought a 315R to get back into trials after a 15 year break. I'm glad to hear Stourbridge are still marking out sensible sections and it makes me wonder if I should have a crack at Howards Wood Yard on Saturday even though I only got the bike last Sunday and haven't ridden it yet. I'm hopefully going to get some practice in at Shatterford on Friday afternoon.... see if I've still got it! (I didn't actually have that much to lose!) When I was trialing before it was mostly Stourbridge and Evesham club trials, they were both sensible but somehow Evesham always managed include some obstacles to get me out of my comfort zone!
  2. .... after an age of dithering about i've actually bought a trials bike. i think i said when i joined this forum that i wanted to keep it cheap and cheerful and that's what i've done. its a 1999 montesa, road registered with 10 months tax and mot, i did the deal without seeing the bike but was well chuffed after my 2 hour drive to find it is in excellent condition, period, nevermind for the year. had a quick blast round the garden when i got home and was surprised at how light it feels, can't wait to get out for a proper practice. anyway, a pretty good day apart from been pulled by the gestapo and slapped with a 30 quid fine for no seat belt!
  3. Hi, my name is Stuart Morrison (you could probably work that one out from my username) I live in Redditch, Worcestershire, UK and I am getting back into trials after a 12 year break. I was only trialing for a couple of years first time round, started on a borrowed Fantic 200 enjoyed it so bought myself a 201, cheap and cheerful. After a year I bought a brand new Beta Synt (last of line) but stopped having fun and when the magnesium crankcase digested itself I lost interest altogether. I see from this forum that Betas still suffer crank case problems. I won
  4. Hi, I had a 201 years ago with the same problem, every 2 hours it'd cut out. My solution was to carry a spare plug and wrench strapped to the bars. once the plugs were cleaned they'd be fine. I can't remember the plug type but the then fantic importer told me they were the same ones used in citroen 2cv's and i should try the local citroen dealer, who also confirmed they'd supplied a few fantic owners over the years. As for causes, haven't got a clue but then we didn't have the internet back then. Cheers, Stuart.
