But it used to run fine on the keihin, the bike has never been used with a dellorto carb. (it is a common mod here they even charge more for a new bike fitted whit a keihin, they do it on gas gas bikes also) It looks to me that it's a problem thats starts at a certain moment and gets worse by time, the bike is used a lot mayby even the piston that's used. Has someone already changed the exhaust on his bike for a new one? Does it make a big diference?
regards bob
Go onto the Sherco websites and you can download the manuals.........and tech info.........nothing to loose........but i use the oil they recommend.
a mate's sherco doesn't run verry nice any more (it used to do) it stil has a lot of power and revs high but on half trothle it sputters a bit, also when revving it it doenst sounds as sweet as it should. At full tilt it seems ok. The bike is fitted with an keihin carb done by the importer in the Netherlands. The bike is used weekly on an intermediate level, air filter is cleaned every time. fuel oil mix is ok, new sparkplug does'nt help. I wonder if it could be the exhaust (first part of the exhaust is cleaned regulary) or mayby the seals on the crankshaft. Any other sugestions?

sorry for the spelling mistakes i am not used to write in English
Hi
What mix ratio are you running on, and what two stroke oil are you using?
I want to stick with the same one as I found my bike does not take to TTS.
can you explain this further, i thought TTS was one of the best out there?
The bike seemed to be sluggish, wasnt running right, a little rich at 1:60. I mixed it in with the blue stuff, hence thats why i'm asking the question to get the original oil.
Yep, got to agree so far. If you've never tried doing it yourself before, its always best to watch someone else do it a couple of times. Then you'll know exactly what needs to be done and you can ask lots of questions like 'If I were to do this myself, what tools would I need.....' etc
I had a new tyre fitted recently and cost ten pounds in labour
Strewth ! Must of been Quick Fit at that price ???
No just a motorcylce firm, i wouldn't take it to a car tyre fitters!! For a tenner you cant argue they have all the equipment and thats the key ,
youd never do it with just tyre leavers. As i said earlier the sherco website has some good info, and you can buy the bead breaker aswell.
Yep Scorpa 3 is right there, if you dont have the right equipment like a bead breaker, it can be a struggle. If you do decide to have a go, check
out the Sherco website and they have a maintenance manual showing an example how to fit a tyre for trials bikes. I had a new tyre fitted recently and cost ten pounds in labour.
Just get onto a reputable motorcyle garage and they will sort it for you.
Been looking at some of the Shercos and there is a good range of workshop manuals on the web, as compared to some other manufacturers which dont have many detailed manuals.
A friend of mine is think of buying a trials bike, either a Sherco, Gas Gas or Beta with an engine size 200cc. Say approximately a 2001 version up to a 2005 model, price hasnt been decided yet.
Please could anyone reccomend which would be the bike to go for out of these 3, in terms of maintenance, with any advatages or disadvantages.
Just bought a 07 sy250 off me friend mint condition anyway rode last weekend and very impressed ,espescially how torquey it is,but i think the clutch is draggin a bit. He sez its got recommened motul vegatable based oil in it,but im thinkin bout changin it for putoline GP10 synthetic which i had in me TXT. Which is best synthetic or vegatable? cheers blok
Scorpa's are known for sticking clutches. I use Motul 5100 10/40 fully synthetixc gearbox oil and found this ok. Just run the bike and select immediately from 1st to 2nd and third
Hello everybody, need some help or advice please, i've got an sy 250 2001 & she realy chuffs the smoke out the exhaust. I'm running her on castrol tts at 80:1 to 5ltrs fuel, which i'm told is 62.5 mls of oil,but she chuffs like a steam train its quite embarrising when your sitting waiting to do the section & there's clouds of smoke every where any help would be very gratefull. thanks.
I use the same oil as you, is it in a green bottle? On the back of the oil bottle it says 50:1 so based on a 5 litre jerry can so it works out as 100ml of two stroke oil to 5 litres.
Yes,... the Scorpa 'might' hold you back a little in Nationals, but at club level they are very competent and in my opinion the easiest 250 to ride.
There again... I'm rubbish, so what would I know? I've even put a slow action throttle on mine due to having poor reactions
With regard to the slow throttle you mentioned, where would this be installaed on my bike if there was one as my bike has been lacking power. Ive changed the plug and an trying to use process of elimination to get the power up.
I'm also trying to adjust the throttle cable as there is some free play as I roll the throttle on, basically tightenting up the throttle cable above the carb. However the adjustment screw will only go so far which wont allow me to tighten the cable to a positive feel. Is there an adjstment screw inside the tp of the carb, would you know?
OK then the front should be tubed the rear tubeless. My guess is the reason your rear is tubed is because it has previously leaked (probably through spokes) and the previous owner has just chucked a tube in it.
Many a threads in the mechanical threads in here to solve the issues on this have a look around you should find the solution so long as you are patient with your working techniques and methodical
The trials tyres on my bike at the moment say tubed tyres. The valve has a locknut on the outside, obvliously being an inner tube there. If I was to buy a tubeless tyre what do i have to do, get a valve fitted at a tyre garage? What about the adjustment on the spokes will air escape hence do i have to stick to tubed tyres?
Thankyou
WRC
What bike do you have? All these questions wouldn't be asked if you filled your profile out!
Alpinestars are a top notch boot but i found they go tatty very quick.
The brighter coloured ones go tatty. Ive got the black Alpine Stars boots and they are brilliant and scruffs dont show, just wash of the dirt ,dry them well after use and rub off any dried mud etc . When dry and get a clean surface and apply some beeswax as it says in the manual.
Another tip is dont wash with a pressure washer at high pressure, Ive know some do this and take the quality out of the boots.
