  1. TY 250 a great choice so many different items you can get with ease, rode a beater TY in 1987(boy am I old) hadn't rode in 5 years and the beast only had about 75lbs compression at the time,my buddies who hadn't seen me in some time were giving me sh##t asking me If I was gonna ride that thing in the trial and laughed however after I after I won 3rd in the masters class against all the newer bikes they didn't say much.

aahh, the frame made it back from the powder coaters(sweet!) I still need to figure out how to shed some weight off the beast(without going illegal in the twinshock class) any help would be kewl my kt250 is almost ready for its 1st trial.
  5. curious as to what flavor everyone likes best, two stroke or four stroke? let the war begin......
  6. had several tl125's the bultaco chain tensioner sherpa 250/350 was a direct bolt in using the old tl pivot bolt that attaches the stock gear shifter to the frame, You lose the stock shifter but I used a different shifter mounted staight up. Will be doing my current tl project the same way.
  7. stu, do you recommend any head work? also any idea how long it can be run before it needs to be re-ringed(without grenading the top end) I read somewhere a national rider blew the piston at around 20hrs with the 180 kit. on a lighter note the swingarm came back from the powder coaters(bright kx green) frame going in next should have pics soon.... also thanks for the all the replies out there guys!
  8. kinda miffed on which way to go, Are the liners any stronger for the big bore kit,(cyl. is a 122cc) and I know there is a 124cc, but can the 122 cc cyl. be used? Or is it better to do the stroker kit. any help would be kewl. All I know is that stock is a little on the soft side(ha ha) and this will be my 5th TL to revive.
  9. true dat, I'm taking the hard road 1st though, cut my teeth on a tl125(man I'm getting old) so it shouldn't be too difficult to live with the kt for a bit, rode a 04 montesa and looked like frankenstein riding I forgot how touchy 4 strokes are. will have to get something soon thou... dgraf
  10. I don't think it is possible to completely give up trials. Last event I rode was a stadium type trials in 92. I scored a kt250 last December(free! thank god cuz they get kinda expensive to revive) anyways going back to old school(twinshock) to start my attack run, and see if I can afford to ride a modern bike by next season(have you seen the price for a new Montesa ouch!) dgraf
  11. thanks again for the clarification. still working on my KT 250 for the upcoming season, shocks and tires and I should be there. dou you ride both comps(vintage and modern?)
  12. Thanks for the response, I think I'm gonna ride both classes, never can get too much riding, do they penalize you if you pull in your clutch(5) or only if you completely stop forward motion?
  13. okay, I'm probably gonna open up a can of worms... I have a question, does anybody ride there twinshock in modern comp class? I would love to ride vintage but I thought trials was about balance and getting a five in one class because I pause to prep for the next trap in the section doesn't make any sense. If I can't stop and balance in the vintage class then I will ride in the modern class. in the 70's you could stop balance and take off without any points lost. Please clarify the reasoning behind this as I don't see this as fair if it is okay in the modern class.
