Hi On the top of the cylinder head there is a brass thermo switch, remove the 2 wires and connect together. the fan should go (engine running) if not you probably need new thermo switch. Car spares shop the on and off tempretures are printed on the switch. If the fan does not go with the wires connected, probably fan. Many jap road bikes have same fan so try breakers. I got one and had to drill out the three mounting holes to accept the rubber mountings on the easy. Easy to do. For loads of info on the mighty Scorpa Easy try thehellteam.com. Check the primary transmision gear. Think thats what its called located behind the clutch basket. The kickstart gear engages with this and can damage the gears causing a knock like you describe. Thats what was wrong with my sons 200 after spending ages looking for things more serious

This is more like a short story than a question. so please bear with me. 99 Scorpa Easy Paioli left hand fork leg, in the bottom of the leg i have a damper rod about 200mm long. Basicly this is a tube with a washer fixed to the top, under the top is the top-out spring, inside the bottom of the spring is a stepped washer - more like a spacer on a rear wheel - fitting tight inside the spring. The outer diameter is the same as the spring outer diameter. Below that is a normal washer and then a circlip in a groove that holds all the bits tight to the top of the rod. The spring snapped a piece off the bottom causing the washers to sit on an angle which in turn forced the circlip out of the groove and generally making a mess of the damper rod. This was repaired with a new spring, damper rod skimmed and groove re-cut. All was well for a while then the forks locked up again. The groove is not deep enough to hold the circlip in place and cannot be cut deeper - not enough metal. The person who did the repairs is an expert on suspension on mx bikes and can't understand what the circlip does besides hold the spring to the top of the rod and suggested I try without the circlip. Tried this and it works fine but the question - if you haven't fell asleep - is what is the circlip for and will the forks be ok without it, can't buy a new rod in our little world or have I got to get a new rod made - info appreciated.
