  1. Hi The FIM official will go to Aussie in December, inspect the venue then give the go ahead. then the dates will be confirmed. I am guessing that then a date change will be very unlikely. See you there and dont forget to cheer on the Kiwis Pete
  2. Hi Rumers, but baldilocks is guessing that the riders he lists still have rides next year, If you were the beta boss and had the chance of Bou, you take it, drop Dibs who sadly hasn't performed too well. I was told by a top enduro rider that possibly the top three trials riders make a living, a few scratch a living, many do it for love. So having the wolrd champ on your team could possibly be a bargain compared to other forms of sport. Pete
  3. When doing it with your mate like in the last clip, you would be tempted to pull it hard and let go. this could be the next position Pete
  4. Sorry guys, but is that a increase on last year, with our strong exchange rate it is cheeper, but still waiting for our importer john to give us the price. hope they will be here for January. Pete
  5. Hi If you can get hold of a Ryan young training dvd, thats a good start, he explains well. My advice, start small, a earth bank is ideal. waist high is big for starting. build yourself a kicker. then on approach squat down on the bike and as you hit the kicker stand tall (expload) pulling back on the bars to lift the front above the rim of the bank. As the timeing of the explosion improves you can start thinking more of the clutch. you will soon be on bigger things. As the splatters get bigger a minder saves lots of mudguards. after saying all that go to a trial and just ask one of the top riders and they should help you out, You have the best currency to pay for some training from another good rider as you live on a farm. Invite them to your place and go ride with them, then you will learn lots and have a great time. Pete
  6. Hi I ride a 125 beta, great bike lots of power, never been wanting more in sections. They need more rider input on the big steps, but I am a pussie and dont ride the big scary things. The latest 125s are very much underated, and would satisfiy most clubman. To see what they are capable of just watch the juniors, and a lot of them are not little kids, they are almost men, or women. Some people knock them, but they are fantastic. Pete
  7. Hi It is a world championship, so they should leave europe, there were other issues with Japan. The cost of non european riders competing in the worlds is huge, far away from family, friends, no real home base, possibly no income. Riders do travel and always will to taste the top competition. We are just hoping that the Aussie round goes ahead so we can have a crack at the worlds also. It looks like 90% of the kiwi trials family will be in Australia to watch, thats huge support from a small country so why should we miss out.
  8. Hi We have both 2010 & 2011 125 Beta, both great bikes heaps of power just unbelivable. The 2010 has a lot more touque and visably has a much heavier flywheel. Ring Lampkins for advise as the 2011 has a few differences internally. I think a different shaped piston for one thing. The 2011 is probably the best 125 ever produced, if you are reading this and dont belive me please ride one. They are simply stunning and will produce enough power for most riders, even fat ones like me. My advise is to fit a slow action throtle, let the young fellow ride and enjoy his beautiful new girlfriend and he will soon get use to her. Most of all, Paul, you keep off it or you will fall in love too. Have fun Pete
  9. Hi Have a ride on a 125, the modern 125 are very underated,If people give them a try very few riders would know it was a 125 without looking for the stickers. I love my Beta, fantastic machine. Pete
  10. Hi Well done the Aussies I know New Zealand will never have a world round , so this is the closest they will get. The fact is that it is very expensive for teams and riders to travel outside europe, and with so few rounds you have to be thankfull for what you have had, or what you can get. Motorcycling New Zealand tried to get the motorcross but could not raise the funds for the F.I.M so the federations also have to pay large ammounts. So sorry but maybe 2013 for the USA.or NZ Pete
  11. Hi Trials in NZ is small, but that has its plus sides. Gavin Fox and his son Blake are from Duneden and travel to all the north island nationals, around 10 hours each way. Go to the motorcycling New Zealand website on the news heading and click on the moto trials box, scroll down, below the photoes is contact emails for all areas of nz, Email any of the Duneden guys and they will help. Just be ready for more traveling to club trials than the uk. You will also be able to ride the nationals as we cater for all riders in all grades. Any problems email me, Pete Haynes.
  12. Hi all. Heard on the grape vine that Australia has got a world round for 2012. Can this be possible, that the Aussie federation gets the nod so early, but its only 12 months away so they have lots of work to do. Or is it all bulls thingy. Hope its true, but we also need to organise ourselfs as my son is keen to ride. Bike to freight over, bike to hire for me, the best minder he has had
  13. Hi I think they are running a twinshock class at the NZ nationals near Hamiton. Love to see you there, but you need to book accommodation now for october as it clashes with the rugby world cup .May catch you at Kaikura if we get to go. Thats one you must ride, a great 3 day at queens birthday weekend. So kiaora Trev Pete & John Haynes Rotorua
  14. Hi The differance between 1st & 2nd can well be down to points given away,or soft dabs. Concentration is often the the reason. I have no answers, but you are not alone. Ride a really easy trial, one that you can clean all the sections, then just watch the points mount up. Its often harder to ride 40 easy sections than ride 40 harder sections. Frustrating you bet. Pete
  15. Hi Brad Take the forks apart and just roll the tubes along a flat surface, you will see if they are bent. The safest way to straighten the tubes is have them rolled between 4 other rollers, with the bent tube in the middle. I dont know where you could have this done in Timaru, Just ring engineers and ask if they have tube straighting service. Good luck. Pete
  16. Wow I only asked because i didnt know, must be a few people who think they are hard done. Thanks to the replies, keep up the good work, Wish i was going but the travel is a little restrictive. Pete
  17. Hi So can someone explain how the ballot works, who gets automaticly accepted, how the reserve list works and can you ride without any form of backup. Pete

    2011 Evo 125

Hi My sons is 10 days old 2011 evo replaceing a 2010 evo. Its a lot different to the 2010. Less torque and more revie. He said its better with the big banks, rocks, but on the big climbs you have to be prepared to rev it more than the old one. It will not pull 4th gear on climbs like the 2010.It is a great bit of kit, and he likes it more than the old model. try and get a ride on one, they are a nice bike to ride.
  19. Hi Another pom over here the same time, Mick Andrews. So lots of twin shock stuff happening. If you need info on the north island drop me a Email. www.mnz.co.nz gives contact details for all NZ regions for trials. Just remember the numbers of riders are small. Pete
  20. Old trials fanatic the same thing is happening here. Someone has decided that this colour that colour for this and that. probably lost sleep over the decision. It is confusing for riders for the first 30 seconds. The important thing is that as long as someone sticks flags of whatever colour most are happy. So stick them in and they will come. Pete
  21. Hi They can get a order to me within a week, and that is a long way. I only use them for parts not available in New Zealand or out of stock. They sure give us a quick service when we phone a order through. Pete
  22. Hi At least he rode, and didnt go home to sulk after the mishap.
  23. Hi At a recent national a top rider screamed and swore at a observer, at the time i did not see what the argument was over. There were spectators present, and I felt so bad that I went and apologised to the observer. After finishing the lap I went to find the clerk of course, couldn't find him but left a message. Rider abuse to a official,I am putting in a official complaint. He came to see me and had already been told about the incadent. he said he had made the rider and minder appologise, do I still want to make it offical. I said yes. I was approched 3 or 4 more times during the day asking if I was sure i wanted to make it offical. At the time I did not know what the process involved (making it offical). In the end I felt guilty as if I was in the wrong and let it drop. I dont care if the observer was right or wrong, you should never abuse another rider or official. the whole incident wrecked my day and after looking through the rules I regret backing down. Pete
  24. Hi Brad You are on a 250 now, but its old in comparison to the almost new bike. I got a 2010 125 evo for my son, after a 200 gg 04, no comparison. The evo is just a beast, lots of power, loads of tourque. you can do sections in 1st to 4th gear, and he never seems to be reving its nuts off. John has just had a double win at the last north island rounds at inters, so the skys the limit. You do have to work harder with more rider imput, but you will be a better rider in the long run. Dont be influenced by the point and shoot style used by many nz 250 riders. John Haynes will be at the nationals, make sure you ask him for a ride and have a decent ride, i am sure a 125 will last you many years. regards Pete
  25. Kiaora I think my son has had his gars 3 years. They are used a lot, at least twice mid week plus weekends. The soles were worn through where the footrest rub. We had them resoled as the tops were still good, plenty of scrapes and gouges but still very servicable. 40 nz$ for the soles and 45nz$ to be fitted. These boots are not looked after, live in the garage and are oiled with neatsfoot oil once a month if they are lucky. Well worth the money, NZ price 450$ so the soles were cheap. Pete
