  1. Well this is a racking frame! In more ways than one. When rebuilding my bike earlier. I noticed a crack, then another, then looked round the other side of the frame and there were another two.

    Here's a few pics I took...

Fair enough it has probably taken a fair battering from me but I am not Albert cabestany over here. Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else? It is a 2010 bike/frame?

I recall sherco being quite good with frame replacements or is that me getting it mixed up with a push bike company?

If not can I weld it up easily? I.e is it not some funky alloy that needs special treatment?

    Cheers for any help

  2. Haha I get your points but lets just say I have rodent a fair bit and obviously not my fault come into contact with some non complient obstacles ;)

I was just wondering if there was a particular code to make life easier. Ill just experiment a bit in the paint mixing hut at work and see what I come out with.

  3. Yay progress :)

I just it it in gear and held it on the brake and brought on the muscle haha.

Anyway it wasn't broke when I took it off, but I pushed it really lightly and it snapped. So I think I have found the culprit :) I ordered a new spring yesterday so hopefully it will be around sometime soon.

Anybody got any tips for sitting the spring back in place properly cause it was a pain to get off?

  4. This is for the 10 black frame colour with I presume is the same as the previous years going back to 06.

I would like to do a bit of touching up on my frame, does anyone know a paint code? Or a paint colour very close?

I have access to a paint mixing system so can get just about any colour I so desire.

  5. Indeed, I've ordered a load of bits from Splatshop to fix it an pimp my bike a little.

Anybody know if an impact air gun would be any use on a midget compressor? My compressor is one I nicked from my dad from when he used to do airbrushing so it's tiny. I'm pretty sure I manage to get a tyre back on to the rim though, I must have been extremely lucky.

  6. Well I've taken the casings off and drained all the fluids. But can't find my bloody 8mm socket!!! Typical! So the clutch is staying on until I can find it. However looking just below the clutch I can see the bottom part of the spring is in tact and not located properly. I haven't found any broken spring bits after having a rummage around so fingers crossed it has just come dislodged. will probably fit a new spring for good measure.

Will report back later when I have more progress

  7. Sounds like I've been very lucky then, ive rode with it like that for about a year, granted I don't get out much. I read up somwhere else that it may have just not be sat right, that could explain why I've not mullered my gearbox.

There anyway to take the centre nut off without an air gun? I don't have access to one at home and would rather not do this job at work.

Also at the risk of sounding stupid, what's the reason for draining the coolant? Do you mean gearbox oil?

  8. Its about time I sorted this out, been like it for a year.

Basically when changing gear it stays at the position you shift to and doesn't return to the centre. I can manually still select gears if I put it back to the centre myself and that's why I've never really sorted it.

Any pointers as to what it is at fault are greatly appreciated :)

  9. Heres the deal, I want to start doing road trials however my bike is not registered and I recall it being a bit of a deal to get it all sorted so may be easier to buy a bike that is registered.

However the thing is I ride a 2010 factory 300 and I really like it and wouldn't want anything else other than a 300 which would be difficult to find cause I believe they only do the cabestany models in 300?

Any opinions or pointers as to what I'd be best doin would be well appreciated :)

  10. Hi there, it's about time i got myself a trailer rather than relying on mi dad to cart me about.

It will be towed by a real mini (no bmw rubbish) so wants to be lightweight and not too wide really. Also ideally small so doesn't take up too much storage space. I remember a while back seeing someone with a sort of front triangle of a trailer and over the axle of the trailer there was a box in which the bashplate sat on. This intrigues me cause it means the weight of the bike is sat over the axle and its short and lighter.

    Something like this...

    SNC00033.jpg

    But possibly even shorter?

How can i go about getting myself something like this or base for me to build one on? Not really sure what i'm looking at.

(Fitted towbar and electrics a year ago and carry pushbikes with it so its up to the job)

Edit: I only want it to carry my one bike around.

  11. Hi there folks, not visited here for a long long time! Think i've only done about 4 trials in the last year and a half and I'm kind of itching to ride again. (Once the bloody exams are out of the way)

Anyway, while it's a bit quiet on the trials scene and seeing as i haven't touched my bike for so long i was thinking of giving it a full overhaul and strip down making sure everything is in order and giving it a good clean up. However i fancy making my bike a bit different. I work in a car body shop so painting of some form would be a good idea. But I am kind of stuck for ideas. The most obvious area to work on is the frame but i'm kind of stuck for ideas for what to do with it or any other bits?

Has anyone done a similar sort of thing or have any pics?

    It's a 2010 sherco 300.

  12. In moto trials it is very apparent that opinions on what is good and what isn't are really rather biased. Take me for example, ever since I started trials nearly 4 years ago I have rode nothing but sherco, because I have grown so used to them and never had any major faults to tell of if I were to tell you my opinion it would be a one sided argument. Same goes for most of the comments on here and what most people think. Most of the time people will tell you to go for a bike because it is simply what they have, it is personal preference really, with all of the modern bikes you can't really go wrong. You just gotta jump on and find out what is for you (y)

  13. Whip off your carb and fuel pump and make sure they are spotless. Both of mine had some manufacturing leftovers in causing the bike to not rev out cleanly. However now it is all well and rides great

  14. I sometimes take my carb off then clean the bike, if you have ever used ipone gearbox oil the lid on one of those fits perfectly into the manifold and seals up when the jubilee clip tightens. Then you can get easier at all the nooks and crannys and not fill your airbox/filter/carb with mucky water.

As for how often i clean it, i usually clean it after every ride unless the conditions make it less necessary or if I'm just out next time for a practise :banana2:
