Can anyone assist with info on how to reduce the trottle response on my daughters TY 80? I have put a spacer pipe between the carb slider and the carb top to limit the slider hight but the problem is the very quick throttle response. The throttle is an Amal and had 90 degrees of travel .Had thought that one that requires more wrist action may help?
  3. Bought a new 250 on Friday! It's brilliant and I'm now so glad I went with the Gas Gas instead of the Evo.Feels like a mountain bike after riding an rt4 and seems to be well put together. Thank all of you for the comments. Regards Fergus
  4. Hello, I fitted 5.5 Renthals to my Montesa and it did help my neck (easier to look up). They do tend to bend easier though as there is more leverage. Another thing that helps is footrest hangers that move the peg position back a bit. Basicaly bikes are built by dwarfs for dwarfs (Spanish, Italian and Japanese) ! cheers Fergus
  5. Hello all. I'm about to buy a 2010 250 Gas Gas, is there any views on these ,good or bad ? This will be my 1st ever new bike and getting nervous of parting with the money (in a Scottish kind of way)! Thanks in advance, Fergus.

    Evo 250 Or 290

I am about to trade in my 06 4rt for a 2 stroke Beta and wondered what bike to go for ? Im still a novice rider and weigh 15.5 stone .I am also considering 09 or new as there are plenty clean 2nd hand ones in the shops.Any views would be welcome. Thanks.
  8. Thanks John, I didnt realise Highland Liesure Sport were Montesa dealers.I must say though that I spoke to Gary while saarching for a bike last week and he couldnt have been more helpfull and generous with his time and advice. Made a good impression on me.
  9. Thanks to you both, it's sounding very positive. On the mapping front , is that something that would have to be done at a dealer (or at all for a novice), I dont think there is a dealer in Scotland .
  10. I am considering buying a 07 or 08 4rt .Are there things you have to alter? I have heard of alterations to the clutch and footrest hangers but would have thought a quality bike like the Montesa would be ready straight oot the box. Also is there any thing specific to the 4rt I should look out for when buying ? Thanks for any advice
