  1. .... bring on the Guy Fawkes trial. Might even try to get it painted before Sunday, am thinking black, with Silver coach lines and the obligatory flying 'M'.
  2. Changed the yokes :-) send me a pm ŵith a contact number and I'll explain
  3. All sorted, hybrid engines are a pain. The liner was hitting the head, all sorted now, happy days. Just need to get a log book, anyone got a V5 for sale?
  4. How's this for a great looking Triumph?
  5. Cheers Jon, I've arranged to go there early doors tomorrow. The Matchless is riding like a dream, the shorter wheelbase has made a massive difference just need to get the turning circle sorted (new yokes need the tank pushed back a little). See you at the Bath Classic on Sunday :-)
  6. So, I think I know the issue now after a chat waiting at sections yesterday. The general consensus was that the liner was moving when hot so when i got home I fired her up and kept the barrel cool with compressed air. She ran for 30 mins, with no noise. Turned off the air and the noise started after about another 10 mins of running. Putting the air back on the barrel stopped the noise :-) So just need to figure out how to stop the liner moving now.
  7. Thanks for the posts. So the latest status is: Oil pipe feed is working fine I was straightened the pipe and checked that oil is still flowing when the noise starts. I have checked the clearence between the stator and the pick ups which if fine. I have noticed though that when the noise starts I start to see air bubbles in the return pipe, any thoughts?
  8. Maybe the picture is there now?
  9. So, still got the metal on metal noise after the bike has run for around 10 minutes. I sat looking at the engine tonight waiting for a eureka moment and maybe I had one. Have a look at the picture, could it be that as the oil heats up it just flows downhill to the inlet rocker and doesn't bother to flow uphill to the exhaust rocker? The oil starvation from the exhaust rocker then creates the noise.
  10. Hi all, does anyone know of any Mick Mills type frames out there for sale?
  11. Hi all, the Guy Fawkes trial is on the 2nd November, it's a road trial based in the Cotswolds. It's run by the Western Classic MCC entry forms are on the AMCA site, I've also attached a copy in this post. Should be a great trial, including some fantasic scenery and off road work between sections. Guy_Fawks_2014_regs.pdf
  12. Will put it back together tonight and report back, fingers crossed.
  13. So, spent a while in the workshop today and I think I've found the issue. After much read in it appear that the cam followers need be fitted in a certain way, the oil holes need to face the back of the engine, which was news to me. A lot of people said the noise could be oil starvation related, so if the engine warmed up and thinned the oil, and the holes were facing the front the rotation of the cam would spin the oil away rather that into the lobes. Which would explain the noise. Do this sound possible?
  14. Thanks, and this is where it starts to get complicated. I have a C15 to end on a B25 bottom end. Sounds like the engine is coming out again :-( Happy Bank Holiday Monday.
  15. Thanks, can you please explain in more detail?
  16. Has anyone got any advice regards cam followers on a B25, I'm pretty sure I've got one sticking that releases then drops making a metal on metal sound, or they're touching each other, the noise is only there when the engine gets hot.
  17. Thanks for the left hand thread heads up, I would have certainly snapped it otherwise :-(
  18. OK, so next question on the beezer :-) How do you remove the clutch operating arm from the drive that moves the push rod, is it a screw fix or taper? Thanks
  19. So, a mixed day today, the two Tufnol spacers have worked a treat and very little heat is being transferred back to the carb, great, happy days. However, after around 8 sections I get that very painful metal on metal noise. Diagnosis between sections ranged from, big end, small end, tappets, push rods, etc etc. I rode the bike back to van really slowly and after say 5 mins the noise had totally gone. I spoke to someone and tried to make the noise happen again, and after letting the engine run for a while and a few Andy Roberton type laps round the field the noise came back. Does anyone have any thoughts, it must be to do with the heat of the engine or the amount of time it's been running. I think it has to do with oil circulation or oil pressure otherwise the noise would be there all the time. I read about the oil pressure valve (ball and spring) and if the pressure gets to high it will let the oil flow back into the crankcase, would this mean no oil would return or get back to the top end? I fear a major overhaul but wondered if any one had any ideas? Thanks all......

    Carb Inlet

Hi all, Apart from the standard black plastic like inlet manfolds you can get from places like InMotion does anyone know of any other type available? I suffered a bit with heat transfer to the carb and was trying to understand what options there are out there.
  22. I worry about using the return pipe, as by the time any rubbish gets caught by the filter, it's a bit late, just can't figure out how to put it on the feed.
  23. Any tips on the best in line oil filter to use on a C15? Also do I put in on the feed or return oil pipe? Thanks
