  1. Powder coating is tough, resists chipping, can have high gloss and apparently is pretty economical . . . but don't do it to your Triumph, please. It's just not the right thing to do to vintage iron. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about paint to recommend anything in particular. Just had to put in two cents in favor of paint over powder coat for your Triumph. Keep the rubber side down!

You might "trace" the second cable backward from the engine - where does it go? I'm betting on it going to the twist grip. In which case it is probably for the carb or oil injection pump.
  3. . . . and please do re-post the photos if you can find the time. I'd luv to see 'em!
  4. While I don't know a thing about the innards of the modern Montesa, I do have a tip which might be helpful. Get a smaller hammer????? oweeeee Bullfrog . . . oh, and I just can't resist saying this: If you are being chased by wild dogs, could it be because your pockets are filled with Haggis?
  5. Jay, take it easy - it tickles when you blow smoke me skirt! Yes, HR Campbells bike has an alloy 125 cylinder with every other fin removed. Bullfrog
  6. The Bullfrog photo shows the bike AFTER the snowmobile mechanical disk brake was ash-canned. It "just did not cut it and the front suspension was wimpy. Replaced with Yamaha 250 mx units." Quote from the original owner of the FIRST Bullfrog - Leon Wilbanks. It had a prototyped/ R&D Dept. large bore engine - something like 150 to 170cc. My own Bullfrog has a 125cc reeded engine with added flywheel weight and a custom built frame which relied heavily on the original Saracen frame geometry. The "trail tuned" 100cc Hodaka engines would be pretty good for trials (with added flywheel weight) and reed valve (if you want it) - but there is no substitute for the extra 25 cc's. Ed
  7. When you get that information, would you post it here? I'm very interested too! Note that my Hodaka Bullfrog trialer (nearly a "one-off") borrowed a lot of geometry from the Saracen of the early 1970's. It has a steering head angle of 28 degrees. Bullfrog
