  1. As we head into winter looking to upgrade my lighting as my rides are extending into the dark. Anybody have any ideas? Looking for options that are brighter than an MR11 bulb. Open to modding the numberplate to suit

    What Size Chain?

Anybody try DID 520 VT2? It is marketed as a direct replacement for 520 non o-ring chain. I couldn't find outside chain dims on the website so not sure if its too wide?
  3. Wish we could get o ring chain - the lube issue becomes much less of an issue. Was just comparing sprockets of my beta and my ktm 300 and the sprocket wear on the trials bike is significantly worse and gets a tenth of the abuse of the ktm.
  4. Find a nice long hill without ideal traction and try riding up and while you go up, shift you weight forward and backward. To far forward the you wheel spins, shift and bit back and you will find the traction, too far back and the front end lifts. Its amazing to see what a subtle movement on the bike does. Try again with legs fully extended then bent and you see the effect of crouching down on the bike. Going down, get your butt down on the fender as far back as you can - again keep you CG as low as possible. K
  5. You might also try a marina - the problem is also in the marine industry and many marinas sell ethanol free gas. Kevin
  6. This is what I do: Get a 1 or 2 pound weight and attach some chord to it. Fasten the chord to a piece of 1" dowel. Hold your arms straight out in front of you and start winding the weight up and then go the opposite direction back down. See how many times you can repeat the process without resting. This will build wrist and arm strength. As you get stronger you can either increase the weight which will build strength or do more repetitions which will build stamina. Good luck!

    Rev3 Headlight

Sort of fixed my problem. Pulled the stock bulb out and replaced the stock 20w bulb with a 35w bulb. I think the bulb is a flood so I may try experimenting with spot oriented bulb but so far am pretty happy with it. I also have to check that the 35w bulb doesn't melt the plastic. At the same time, I replaced the connection to the bulb with a proper female socket which just barely fit inside the bulb housing (bought a regular harness from a lighting shop). Much better than the stock wiring which had worked loose on my bike. Kevin

    Rev3 Headlight

Being we are headed into winter, my afternoon-after-work rides result in a bit of night riding. Has anybody replaced the stock headlight with something a bit brighter? Suggestions? Cheers, K
  9. Thanks for the all the posts. Outlaw Dave, I tried to PM you but you box is full. You must be popular... Kevin
  10. first trials bike, I currently ride a ktm450 xc but have wanted a trials bike for *many* years. Any thoughts on a scorpa 250? Like the yami powerplant in terms of reliability. Lurking around there seems to be a fair amount of talk about clutch issues. Love the hydraulic clutch on my ktm - not sure if I can go back to conventional? Comments? Gassers seem quite popular but a couple of buddies ride gasser enduros and I am not that impressed with the build quality - not sure if the same applies to their trials bikes. Trials is almost non-existent in my area so its difficult to get to try some different bikes - will quite likely end up buying something over the net which is a little worrying. Ideally would like something a couple of years old, $4-4.5k is my budget. Mostly just looking for a clean reliable ride. I don't think I am a good enough rider to distinguish the finer nuances of the differnent rides. Also wondering about a 4 banger? Recommendations, advice comments appreciated! Cheers Kevin
