my kids are 8 and 10 they are small build and weigh 70 pounds ish i checked the pet cock article and took mine appart i wasnt sure if it had been modified so i cut another 6mm off the feed so ill see if thats made any difference at the weekend

thanks for the replies when the bike is flat out in either gear it pops and bangs. I thaught the bike was fast enough but it just seems like there ought to be more topend. It doesnt do bad on the hills it pulls well but compared to the beta id say its probably 7 - 10 mph slower. The lads have swapped bikes and both think the beta is quicker. I had a look at the reeds and they are perfect the bike ticks over and starts 1st kick so im under the impression that its running its best. I will look at the fuel cock to see its ok.

hi my sons got the sherco 0.5 50cc polini engined bike can any more power be got out of the engine as my other son on his beta mini trial is whooping him. i was thinking maybe reeds or somthing ive repacked the exhaust but its not made much difference just a tad quiter now. The engine seems to rev quick enough but then sounds like its been strangled when its flat out

just to let you know ive now got the bike running great with a new set of reeds and a new clutch the clutch springs were weak and dragging all the time it now ticks over sweet took lad out on it today its like a different bike the acceleration and top speed are way better

would a sticking reed valve petal cause bad idling i stripped the manifold and one petal stays open a millimetre or so?

yeah ive turned the idle screw up in fact its fully in. i took the carb apart to make sure there was no dirt inside. i took the reed valves out to make sure there was no dirt in them i did notice that one reed was not tight shut would this have any effect ?

Hi guys im having trouble getting my sons minitrial 50 to idle it has a size 60 jet it runs well the spark plug is new the spark looks good it starts fairly easy (dosnt need choke though) has anyone any idea cos its driving me insane

great pictures thanks i will look at the bike more over the xmas holidays i am picking it up from the shop tomorrow my other son has the beta minicross which i picked up secondhand at a real good price this has the rear brake as factory so i will look at the chances of using the beta setup on the sherco if it looks like a non starter i will have a go at making somthing like yours which looks real good seems like ive fallen over a great site here keep up the good work guys

thanks for the replies Al that looks like a real good conversion i may try and knock somthing like that up myself (i also like tinkering and modifying) i take it that you just drilled n bolted thru the swing arm

hi all im new on here having just got my lad a sherco 50. ive read through a lot of old posts and was wondering if anyone has converted one of these bikes to have a foot brake instead of using the handlebar brake (clutch hand) as id like to convert mine so he doesnt get dependant on using his clutch hand to brake thanks guys
