wasmeneh Posted May 1, 2007 Report Share Posted May 1, 2007 I just picked up an 86 TY 350. I haven't been able to locate an owner's or service manual for it yet. Does anybody have handy the capacities of the Tranny and forks. I always like to change out fluid's when I pick up a bike. I've been refered to B&J Racing for parts, any other good sources? Would the 85 and 86 service manual be about the same, I found a reprint of the 85 TY350 service manual available at Yamaha dog. scott_king Posted May 1, 2007 Report Share Posted May 1, 2007 (edited) Hi I may be wrong but I think 95% of the bike is the same as the TY250. Only really jets in the carb, piston, cylinder head and a few frame mods separate the bikes. If you cannot find a TY350 manual a 250 one from a similar year will be nearly as good. A few manuals come up on eBay. Or you may be lucky and get a service CD from the internet with all the manuals including the TY350. Engine oil: Manual says 800ml but yamaha importer recommended 750ml Fork oil: 300cm3 (10.6 imperial fluid oz) each - 10w 30 motor oil (normal fork oil feels rubbish so use engine oil) These measurements are from a 1989 TY250 but they should not differ from your bike. The easy, std stuff is flywheel trim, clutch extender, fork springs I also added bar risers, disc front brake and need to lower the pegs. Hey Paul From my experience it makes them harder and feels more progressive. It says use engine oil in the manual but I still tried proper fork oil and found it too soft. Hope this helps.
