March 14, 200818 yr Any alternatives worth using? Dextron III? Or should i just stick to the PJ1? Personally, I would stick with the PJ1 or other proper gear oil unles for some reason you need the quicker bite of ATF, and even then not run the cheap stuff. High quality fully synthetic ATF is available. It is not inexpensive.
March 14, 200818 yr I have been using Golden Spectro gear lube in my bike. (my Dad swore by the stuff, he gave me a bunch when he quit riding.) When that runs out I will probably check into Amsoil for gear lube (not sure what they got). I like their 2 stroke oil. Just my personal opinion that ATF is for Automatic Transmissions, My bike is manual gears hence I go with a motorcycle specific wet clutch Gear lube. When I get an auto trans trials bike I will put ATF in it. Stick with the PJ1.
March 14, 200818 yr Author Ok just a query but what weight should it be 75w or 80w? I think i have been using 75w but it seems very thin. I want ultimate protection.
March 14, 200818 yr We use Red Lines 80wt Motorcycle Gear Oil w/shockproof and the bikes have never shifted better. It's about the best protection you can buy.
