Which Bike For Kids

Our club has decided to buy a bike so that the kids that show interest can have a go. The idea is that they can borrow it 3 times, after that they should have an idea if they will pester Dad to death for thier own bike or take up stamp collecting,

But:

WHICH BIKE SHOULD WE BUY?

The choices are:

A) mini trials with 14 to 15 inch wheels

or B ) 3/4 size bikes with 17 to 18 inch wheels

or perhaps C) something with a smaller frame but full size wheels

Which model do you feel is the best for the most kids. Remember this bike wont be a compition bike but something to give them a qualified introduction to Trials, but them again some of them may never have ridden a bike before!

I look forward to your opionions.

Engine size is more important than wheel size, UEM rules restrict some to 50cc, some to 80cc and others to 125cc. So first you need to know what age kids you are looking at attracting.

I'd go with the Gas Gas Cadet 50 or Beta Rev50. Most sized kids between 8 and 13 will be able to have a go on them without outfacing them. Getting an auto or REV80 sized bike would limit the usee of it too much.

i think its a fantastic idea a club buying a bike for the kids who want to try trials and don't have a bottomless pit of money to throw at a 10 year olds whim!! it would give the parent and the child a good understanding of how a trial is run, what clothing, boots ect they need before they go out a spend a small fortune, you could charge the child(dad, mam) a small fee for the use of the bike say the price of the entry plus

We have had so much success with the "adult" bike that we have decided to get a kids bike as well. Like you guessed, we charge about 5 pounds for an afternoons use, Mentioning to them that if they cause major damage they will cover that seperatly, so far we haven
