Hi - I am going to try an NGK iridium plug in my 05 REv 3, and not sure which is recommended - BPR5EIX or BPR7EIX. NGK suggest the 7 but others seem to suggest the 5. Any feedback from you guys before I buy? I am in Northern England if that makes any difference....

As with the standard plugs, BP5ES and BP7ES, the bikes are usually sent out with a '7' in. Then when its run in change over to the hotter '5' plug.

I get mine from Sparkplugs uk. They have a reckoner on the site which recommends the 7 rather than the 5.

Iridium plugs are really a waste of money on a dirt bike. They don't have any effect on performance. The reason for iridium plugs in automotive application is the iridium is extremely hard and erodes much slower from the spark then any other material. For car engines like the GM Northstar with supposedly no maintenance for 100,000 miles or a car that requires removal of the engine to change all the plugs it makes sense. For a single cylinder premix two stroke it makes no sense at all. Even platinum is somewhat overkill but at least they're cheaper.

Just changed mine (GM factory Denso Platinum) at 109,000 miles, and they still looked great, with the gap still spot on to the factory settings. Couldn't believe it.
