Beta Techno Not Running Right

Featured Replies

I have a Beta techno 250 1997, it will start up and tickover but not rev, sounds like its back fireing all the time. It will also kickback viollently. Been told its the stater plate. Just wondering if anyone has ever had this problem before. Thanks.

Make sure the woodruff key hasnt broke first, easy fix and cheap, could also be the timing has moved. A dodgy stator plate usually means the bike wont run at all

woodruff key is ok an so is the timing do u no how to test the stator thanks lee

sorry Lee, not a clue, try a search on here there must be loads of posts on dodgy stators

hi. i dont think you can test a stator, a stator usually breaks down when the motor is hot, wait for it to cool down and normally runs again till hot , we used to send mx stators to west country windings , did a brill job on them, have you tried cdi and coil although symptoms of a kickback are not normally related to them, hope this helps anyway. cheers

ive been to the bike today, started first kick, if you pull the throatle right back it just revs a little bit and thats it, does anyone no were i can get a cdi and a coil from? thanks lee.

Sounds to me like it's running lean at full throttle. Have you tried cleaning the carb? Also worth checking the tank vent. Try it with the fuel cap off...

ive checked the fuel vent thats ok, and ive also clean the carb out.

If youve got a kill switch on the bike disconnect it then see if theres a difference, is the earth wire connected well and have you checked for any shorts in the system? best way to check is to run the bike in total darkness as they will easily be spotted if a wires exposed. Has the bike ever run ok? if so what have you done to it since if anything. Pretty sure a dodgy CDI will not even let the bike start

i got the bike like it. i disconnect the kill switch an its still the same. its got a good sparke. i was just told it neads a stator when i got it but wood it sparke if the stator was no good?

not nipped up is it? wont get much or any spark from a ****ed stator. Are you 100% the float levels/jets are the correct size?

is got lots of compression how do i do the float levels wot are the std jet size?

thanks for ur hellp

Do a search on this forum for techno posts, just looked on Lampkin site and no info there on jets etc. Bike will still have compression if nipped up, if jets are clean and correct size as well as float height might be worth having a look at the piston and barrel

had the same prob turned out to be stator bike would run but only if dident turn throttel also cdi coil pack from jk hirst bout 19 quid u can test the stator go to motoplat web site ittells u there or ring him he tell you what reading you should get think its somat like 450 anthing less its gone
