Will I need to replace gaskets if the bolts are undone? the part will remain firmly in place as I will be doing one bolt at a time!

Who said I was using alu? :(

Just doing a hot spray on the heads so decided on new bolts.... if you heat them up really, really hot and spray them with your desired polyurea coating, (steel bolts this is) chuck them in the freezer over night then shove them in the bike! Cant even scratch them with a stanley knife!

What kind of tit uses alu bolts in a high pressure area? Even titanium is a bit risky where you should have high tensile bolts!

Just so you don't look like you're talking to yourself, user "sherco25016" had his posts deleted because they contained so much text talk they looked like another language. :(

No text talk!

Hi,

I'm new to the whole trials thing. I just picked up a beautiful 06 Sherco and I'm now basically clueless about what to do with it. Do I understand correctly from your post that the motor casing screws in these bikes are made from Aluminum? Or, did I understand that wrong?

Thanks,

Bark

No, the factory bolts are cadmium plated steel. They will corrode a bit over time, yet are cheap to replace.

The biggest potential problem comes not from appearance, but the corrosion on the thread portion due to water exposure. Treatment with a grease/ antisieze mix on all the threaded bolts you can access(not brake disc bolts) is advisable, although I usually replace all my common bolts with stainless steel and coat as stated. Coat axles with waterproof grease. ;)

Thanks, I was thinking 'Aluminum?!'

Stainless sounds like the way to go for sure if I need to replace anything.

Cheers,
