March 10, 200917 yr Hi, my latest project is getting costly as i have just pressed apart the big end to find the rod is ovaled and knackered. Anyone know where i can get a kit from or at the least a serviceable rod? cheers Dave
March 10, 200917 yr Sandifords were selling off rodkits for older Montesa's on ebay recently. May be worth checking with them Wayne....
March 11, 200917 yr Author Thats my next port of call but all the rods i have seen have been for cappra's etc Dave
March 12, 200917 yr Author Dave Renham didn't have them in stock but Sammy Miller has and its winging its way to me as we speak (type) but he did have the rings i needed and the bush for the kickstart shaft Dave
March 13, 200917 yr Author Not quite, the bore measured up 72.5 and the piston just under but my new std rings have a 3mm gap!!!! something is wrong somewhere. Dave
March 15, 200917 yr Another source is in France http://www.francetrialclassic.com/ If you get stuck Dave Renham at Bultaco Uk is starting to do a lot more Montesa stuff
March 29, 200917 yr You can also try Jared Bates at southwestmontesa.com. He is a great bloke to deal with and the prices are pretty reasonable. I have restored a number of old Montys over the years and have always been able to get the parts through him. If he does not have the parts he can source them elsewhere.
