Bultaco 340cc

Featured Replies

Right folks

can anybody answer this for me please.

I thought all bultaco 340cc models had a six speed box, is this correct ?

In my area there is a bultaco 340 but the owner claims its only a 5 speed ? is this some hybrid or did bulto make the 340 in both 5 and 6 speed versions ?

cheers

All six speeds I'm sure, and I thought that the 250's were as well till recently but not so maybe there is an overlap?

199b 340cc 6 speed. Only other six speeders were the 50cc models. Everything else was a 5 speed including 250 198b

(Except model 10. 4 speed).

Hello, First 3 199-B that came to Comerfords where 5 speeders and had blue frames.

Call Bultaco Uk with engine/ frame numbers and I will tell you what you have...

There where 10 x 198-B made with 6 speed special for France at the time..

Last Fronteras had 6 speed also....

Hi

Yes, all 199b's (340) left the factory as six speeders, all 198b's (250) were five speeders.

However, I believe some 199b's have subsequently been converted to 5 speeders when the six speed

box gave trouble. I am told that the 5 speed box is stronger. So, perhaps this how some confusion has arisen.

As ever, someone, in this case, Legs, has proven me wrong. Perhaps I should have said the vast majority of

199b's left the factory as six speeders and the vast majority of 198b's left as 5 speeders. However I still stand by my

statement that some 199b's will have been converted to 5 speeds.

Kind Regards

Is the 6 speed box just got more cogs in it or is it a completely different thing?

ie to convert one of these to five speed requires a cluster swap?
