big john
Rules are Rules, its simple you ride to them and you simply deal with the score you are given. As long as the observer is consistent, and marks to there own set of criteria within the rules ( stop or non stop ) i see no problem. Well said Boyd, I couldn't agree with your more! Big John Edited July 31, 2009 by Big John

motorcycleemptyness
No stop is fine if the terrain allows a section to be marked out to be challenging enough to take marks. Not everyone lives 'up north' where the terrain is challenging. Some of the venues i ride at in the southern centre for instance do not offer the kind of terrain that can take marks unless the sections are marked out incredibly tight ,which in turn requires stopping , hopping etc. Instead of making a 'blanket' rule why not let each club decide on the rules they are running (stop/no-stop) depending on which venue they are using ? Then riders would then have to learn BOTH techniques................. Edited September 19, 2009 by motorcycleemptyness

Its poor organisation from me to start an event and not check what rules are being applied but when you ask an observer and they dont know its all getting a bit silly

Its poor organisation from me to start an event and not check what rules are being applied but when you ask an observer and they dont know its all getting a bit silly They only have to display a board at the start stating the rules for that day ? The regs in tmx could have a letter 's' (stop) or 'ns' (no stop) at the end of them, comon it's not rocket science!. The way i see it is that the people who keep changing these rules every other year should get out a bit more often , go to a few trials up AND down the country , try observing , or riding and make realistic rules that suit everybody in any situation. Like i said , leave it to the club running the event to decide on the marking system depending on the terrain they are using on that given day. Where are our future Dougie Lampkins gonna come from if we are riding to different rules than the world series ? chewy
It sounds like maybe thats gonna change next year, The stop gets a five system worked for decades if you got too clever for local trials you could go & do regional or national trials, or special tests were used to sort out a winner. baldilocks
Club trials will suffer...Big time. goolies, gonads, testicles, b*llocks club trials survived quite happily in the north, south, east and west of the UK up until the mid eighties when the Uk rules were changed to that being used in the world rounds at that time. Take you local trick rider to a practice venue and see if he can ride his bike round on full lock then straight up a hill or obstacle. If he can then nothings spoilt as he would presumably cleaned it anyway, If he cant that s even better as every one can get round for a dab and you have just reduced the gulf between those who can stop and those who cant. Trials existed in the South before stopping was permitted and can do again with the right CoC. Most people on the middle or easy course where I live cant hop anyway so I fail to see how they will be affected or how their trials will suffer

Well a bit of banter helps you know but sticking fact on the end of a phrase doesnt make it factual, can you explain ?
