Alternative To Putoline Light Gear Oil?

Featured Replies

I have a Beta Rev-3 2004 and currently use Putoline Light Gear Oil in the Gearbox (As recommended by my local dealer).

Somebody at ESTC has told me to try Putoline Super DX4 10/40 instead, which is about a 25% of the price of Putoline Light Gear Oil.

He uses it in his Gas Gas TXT 2003 Gearbox and was told it would be okay by a Dealer.

I am aware that DX4 is techically a 4 Stroke Gear Oil.

Has anybody got any experience with DX4 in place of Light Gear Oil?

I dont want to save a few quid on Oil, if its going to cause we problems at a later date (Gearbox,Seal, Clutch failure ETC)

ATF is cheap and works well its used in automatic transmissions so the oil is thin and works under extreme loads. This can be bought for around 7-8 pounds per litre.

PJ1 clutch tuner works well in my 04 beta dont ask how much it is i cant remember as i always pick up other stuff as well

Putoline GP10

Note

Im sure DX4 is a four stroke oil

ATF dexronlll, works great in Rev3's, change it every couple of months and buy some spares with the savings,
