Atf Type F In A Sy250 - Good Or Not...

Hi all

My ‘06 SY250 has a little clutch sticking problem at the beginning of a ride. Nothing big, but I could do without it.

Has anyone here run ATF type F in their SY250 (Yamaha engine)? Any problems? Leaks? Less or more clutch sticking?

I read someplace that Dextron ATF can cause clutch plate swelling…. but I don’t know if it is true.. anyone know?

I walk the bike about 200 yards to where I start her up and jump on. I pull the lever in and out a good few times whilst walking, and when I fire her up and jump on the clutch is fine......although I did put new oil in, about 8 hrs ago.

I got the stuff that Birketts recommended, can't remember what type, will have a look later if needed.

Hi - Birketts recommend Motul 5100 10W40 4T oil - Drain and add 650ml

I've got mine to do this weekend so will let you know if there's a difference.

At the mo it has PJ1 Clutch Tuner in and it's still a bit grabby

cheers

I'e had my 05 since new annd I've never beenable to get more then 450 mls out/in. I've leaned the bike over, I've left it to drain, I've undone the small bolt, still only 450.

I don't know if it's me or if it's my bike but 650 would fill it way higher than the level hole.

I change the oil after approx 10 hours.

Pete
