cjatwell
Out Last weekend, admittedly very warm in some tight forest. Bike boiled up during ride. Checked fan and it runs very slowly on tickover. Once throttle is applied fan speed picks up Ordered a new regulator and problem the same. Contemplating ordering a new fan unit. Thermostat ok. Can anyone describe what the fan should be like on tickover. ? I can put my finger into fan and stop it spinning very easily on tickover. Much more difficult with throttle applied. Is this normal. chewy
I had that problem and response (regulator) didn't get sorted untill I put new Thermostat swith in. I even checked old one in the saucpan and it switched fine. Bloody electrics!!! this is only meant as anecdote and not guaranteed fix. hope it helps. spinningplates
put a wire across the to leads from fan that go to switch/ thermostat. does it spin with the engine is running should run at a constant speed. if it does chances are it your thermostat. shercoman2k8
Had this on all my bikes... on tickover the fan spins rather slowly, up the revs a bit and it picks up. Even on my 2010 Gas Gas. But not that slow. Try just setting the tickover up, not a fix but will help.
cjatwell
I will increase the idle speed first and see how that goes. Thermostat kicks in fine
mlowe_razors
I have got this problem also but my fan comes on as soon as I start the bike so would this mean that the thermostat is bypassed? mine is boiling over after approx 5 mins, coolant steaming out the rad cap overflow
