kerabo Posted October 8, 2010 Report Share Posted October 8, 2010 (edited) I am rebuildig a Francis Barnett trials bike and was trying to keep it original as much as possibe. i have been told that if i was to attempt a trial i must have folding footrests Is this true? TSR8 of the current ACU handbook talks about bikes' brake/clutch levers, mudguards, throttle, wheels etc and states that 'Footrests must be of the folding type'. old trials fanatic Posted October 8, 2010 Report Share Posted October 8, 2010 Better folding footpegs that a perforated leg either way an "original" Francis Barnett will really struggle to get round in even a "Classic" trial so if you are really that obsessed with "originality" which the bike wont be anyway then just keep the rigid footrests and show it. totalshell Posted October 9, 2010 Report Share Posted October 9, 2010 absolutely NO value in the original footrests other tha originallity. a folding footpeg is safer ie it wont nail you to the ground and the serated edges prevent your boot sliding off and thus maintain control of the bike.
