I have added grease fittings to steering head bearings, and brake pivot points also.

Running of out lube is only part of the issue. The biggest plus I see is that by frequent greasing, the water and dirt get purged out and keep the bearings clean. The old TY linkages last for years. I am very careful to clean the fitting first, and to leave a glop of grease on it when done. I don't want to push dirt in via the greasing procedure.
