Featured Replies

Hi all,

The side cases on my 315 are a bit scuffed so I was planning on repainting them, can

any one recommend a paint they are the silver later types rather than the bronzy coloured ones.

Cheers

Don't know if it is available in Braveheartland but here in the US we use Rust-oleum Professionsl High Performance Enamel #7519 Stainless Steel color available at your local hardware store in an aerosol spray can and the color is very close to the stock Montesa silver.

Ive tried alot of sprays on my mx covers, all of them didnt last very long, stone chips, discolouring from cleaning fluids etc...

Powder coating is the only way in my opinion!

From what I remember when I changed my '98 casings from bronze to silver paint..I first had an idea to rub the surface down with a mind to buffing up to a polished, bare-metal, finish.

I knew that my bike had one previous owner (and he hadn't touched it) so the half dozen or so layers of paint that had to be removed were straight from the factory.

It's little 'nerdy' things like this that get Montesa their cult following :icon_salut:

Back on topic..I remember that the silver paint I used was the same as used on an Vauxhall Astra G (MK4)..I think :dunce:

Thanks for all the responses folks... I'll try those suggestions out!

Hammerite smooth silver in spray form, (good hard wearing gear) or Ford Tibetan gold, with loads of lacquer for the old boy look,
