Hi, I have a spare 200 exhaust that would benefit from a good clean out, what is the best method of doing this , does it need splitting apart and re welding? or is there some special substance that can be used, back in the fsie days we used caustic soda from the chemist but not sure if this actualy did any thing ! ! any thoughts on this would be of help ,thanks.

If you are talking an all steel pipe, try this. Start at the exhaust inlet with a torch set, just a small amount of flame to get the pipe burning. Flame off and go to straight oxygen, just lightly. The pipe will slowly burn all the through the end. Just try to keep a slow burn going. You can see it`s progress. If pipe starts turning red, slow down with the air. It does produce a lot of smoke, but c.leans it out well. Others nearby will not be impressed.
