November 3, 201312 yr Does anyone know where to start with carb settings for my 98 techno, it starts and idles fine but doesn't rev very cleanly when accelerating through the gears. I am using a 70% mix and it has a new air filter. Andy.
November 4, 201312 yr Hi if u have a good idle, try and slow it down with the slide screw,to a acceptable level without stalling then adjust your air screw to see if the engine speeds up or down, the rough starting point for the air screw is about 1 1/2 turns from fully in,make sure your engine is fully warmed up.also check your plug to check the mixture.
November 8, 201312 yr if the carb is clean, consider if the entire exhaust system and combustion chamber have been cleared of all carbon in last 12 months?...start there, then make sure compression is within specs, then worry about your carb
November 9, 201312 yr Author I have cleaned all of the exhaust system, compression is fine it just seems to be running too rich and no reving cleanly at the top end of the rev range.
December 19, 201312 yr Author I have just taken the carb apart and the needle is clipped in the bottom groove meaning it is running at its richest setting, which groove should it be in?
December 19, 201312 yr The needle should be more the middle. What jets are in there? Stock was like 150 and 30. Proper float height is also important.
