February 2, 201412 yr Hi, looking to tart up my 02 315r, and would love to get the tank re,painted. Just wondering if it was a pretty straight forward job? Does it have to be some sort or specialist paint, with it being a plastic tank? Or can you get a reasonable finish with a rattle can. Thanks in advance. Clay
February 2, 201412 yr Hi, I've done a few of these. Use correct plastic primer and you should be ok using a rattle can ! Several light coats, building it up as you go. Simples !!
February 3, 201412 yr Nelly - where you riding next week mate? Clay - try just leave it around outside the front of the house, the local yoofs may do a Banksy free of charge....job done!!
February 3, 201412 yr I have no idea what "yoofs" or "a Bansky" are but...... Be sure the paint is very well cured and don't spill any petrol on the paint or you might find it has becomes a wrinkle finish or lifts completely.
February 3, 201412 yr hi its a twinshock trial gresford classic club at nant ucha trevor any bike welcome free burger and brew
February 6, 201412 yr Be sure to air the tank for a few days too to ensure that any residual petrol fumes are gone. Petrol fumes leach through the plastic and if there is still remnants then it will ruin the paint on application almost. Also allow the paint to dry for a number of days before you fill it again.
February 8, 201412 yr Cheers Nelly, just realised it's the father in laws bday party so instead of having fun I'll be there! Least there's plenty of beer to make up for it!! See you at frodsham I guess
