  1. Hi JR. the TB appears to be opening and closing ok ! Is there any other way of checking the lock stop that you mentioned ? Thanks.
  2. Hi it's unlikely to be an 09 as that model had the rad filler cap coming out of the left side of the frame behind the rad. 2010 onwards the rad filler is at the front. Check the bike starts easily when hot, stop n start it a few times and ensure the electric fan cuts in and out. Get the bike on a stand or box and take hold of the rear wheel and check for up and down movement on the rear suspension linkage. Hope that helps.
  3. Totty hello man ! Did you get a new bike then ? There's a few lads over our way that get out on the trials bikes. This Sunday there's a trials practice day over near Stanhope at a place call Dursand Quarry. There's a few of us going over and there will be others out for sure. Also there's an evening trial at 6pm at Pea Farm near Stanley next Wed which is based on having fun and nothing too . Why don't you and ScottySherco pop along a have a look. It's a great couple of hours out and you'll see riders and bikes of all ages having a ride round. Pea Farm is also open for trials practice on a weekend. Give me a shout or pop over if you like !
  4. Hi Lewis ! What part of the NE are you in ? There's a trial on next Wed evening at Pea Farm near Stanley. Starts at 6pm. Try and pop along. Plenty of free advice from anyone you ask and a great way to spend a couple of hours amongst other trialers.
  5. Good man ! Keep me posted ! Remember to be gentle with her !! Ha ha !
  6. There you go Barry ! Now let's get the "heed" back on and get the auld gal back together. Give me a shout if you need any help !
  7. The Phoenix rises again. !!!! All the best with the new venture guys.
  8. Super, super job ! Really enjoyed watching these. Thank you.
  9. Oh my lord this bike has certainly not been kind to you. Look forward to the replies and see what we can learn from these events. Hope you get sorted.
  10. Hi everyone who has posted on this subject. On the TC events calendar there's no venue confirmed ( which I think we now know is Ridsdale ) Start time TBC !!!!! Anyone know what time this starts ? Thanks.
  11. Hi then, When you contact the organisers can you post some details on here plz. At last Wed's trial there were a lot of people talking about this trial who like yourself are unsure of the venue as some were saying it was really rocky and it's been quite a while since this venue was used / ridden. Thanks.
  12. John, Thanks to you and the rest of the team for the footage. It can't be easy arranging and capturing some of the footage that you guys have been providing over the last week or so ! Super, super job. Thanks again.
  13. Have you seem the clear plastic covers that fit over the top of the airbox / under the mudguard on the Evo. Steve Saunders at SXS sells them. There's a pic on his website. Had them on a couple of my Evo's and they work a treat at keeping water and muck out of the top of the filter. Think they are about £12. Easy enough to make one if you done want to spend anything.
  14. Hi there. I've had a fair few 4rts and my current 09 model has the same noise as yours. Check that the rotor is running true and the pistons in the caliper are returning correctly, if not these can cause the disc to oscillate. If the noise bothers you that much you can either buy some new bushes as they are inexpensive to buy or an old Indian trick is to remove the bolts and bushes and carefully apply a little silicone to the outside of each bush. This will take up a little of the play and still allow the disc to move ( float ) on the bushes and stop / reduce the noise that you mentioned earlier. I'm sure some will read this and jump up and down saying you should replace the bushes but the choice is yours. Silicone on the bushes has been around for years as a cheap fix.
  15. Try dropping the gearbox sprocket down a tooth from 11 to a 10 tooth. This will make it less "punchy" off the bottom and more controllable in the tight n twisty stuff.
  16. There's a breather pipe behind the cylinder that comes out of the top of the crank case. It's quite a thick black pipe and easy to spot. If there's any oil it's likely to have come from there. Sometimes oil from the air filter mixes with water and collects in the bottom of the filter box !
  17. Mmmm interesting question that !! Look forward to some of the replies !
  18. Scotch brite pads work a treat when cleaning / trying to brighten up dull cylinder / engine casings.
  19. Barry, Looking at the area code it looks like they are down around the Bristol area. Have you found out if the barrel is ok then ?
  20. Hi ! Tony Scarlett, and as he was a top rider and usually mounted on the most recent machinery in his day I'd say from the no plate it will be around 1985 / 86 ish ! No idea where this was tho !!
  21. S3 give by far the best protection to your rims. Make sure your rims are nipping clean before fitting and make sure you warm them with a hair dryer or if you use a paint stripping gun be careful not to overheat them. Take your time fitting and I'm sure you will be happy wi' um.
  22. Some bike racks have a pinch bolt that you tighten once the adjustment or spacing is correct for the bike you are going to carry. Once the bike is on and strapped down etc the rack shouldn't really be able to come apart. However, if there are no pinch bolts I'd be careful about travelling with the bike rack on it own ( no bike ) as the parts that slide together may come apart.
