Fuel?

Featured Replies

I know that we should be useing super unleaded but i am wondering if Shell Opti-Max is OK?,, no other good garage close to me:-)

Also is it normal for it to change the smell of the exhaust fumes totally.

Cheers :-)

R its a sherco 290...

:D Yes -- optimax is very good -- I use it all the time in my Sherco 250.

It cuts down on all the little pinking and knocking noises.

As for that 'creosote' smell -- yes it reeks

Cheers guys

Just a shame you loose that lovely 2stroke smell lol

"Super" Unleaded is 97 RON fuel Sherco recommend 98RON fuel The only retailers selling 98 RON are Shell (Optimax) and Q8. Tesco do sell 99 RON fuel in some areas. For those not in the know Standard Unleaded is 95RON. The higher the Number the better the fuel. More energy is contained in the fuel and its anti knock(pinking) effect is improved. It does mean that it is conversely slightly "harder" to ignite tho.

Always use ultimate or optimax and have even had a little race gas 50/50 once or twicw. Never able to tell there is more pwer or not (don't ride it on the stop!) but it sure seems to run sweeter, bit like adding a vx plug or Boyesens or ipone.
