Oiling Boots

A while a go on TA I repied to a message asking about putting old engine oil on boots to keep them waterproofed and protected.

Not wanting to distroy the 'expensive clothing' topic with a reply to bikespaces message, I decided to put a new topic up.

What are your suggestions, recommendations and opinions on oiling the boots.

I have red hebo technicals...would you suggest it?

Reguards,

Matt.

Like bikespace mentioned (on the "expensive" thread) I use Nikwax on my trials boots with great success. Also use it on my Gore-Tex lined hiking boots as it does not clog the lining, allowing the boots to remain breathable.

Neats Foot Oil -

Get it from Horsey type places, I think 500ml cost me about a fiver a couple of years ago, really good for softening old dried out boots and the oil helps repel the water

I have some oil on the side of my right boot from a silencer a while back, the oil is immovable...any ideas for that?

Thought about using a heat gun at a far distancing and warming it up and wiping it away...would it work?

Thanks,

Matt
