March 15, 20179 yr Hi About to remove an engine from a 2013 TXT 250 for the first time. Does the sump guard/plate need to be removed to get the engine out or will it slide out from the side? Thanks Rob
March 15, 20179 yr yes you do and the swing arm pivot shaft. Note there are two pinch bolts on the rear of the gearbox casing holding the pivot shaft in place. I also removed the tank, seat/rear mudguard, air box, carb and radiator/fan assy.
March 16, 20179 yr The skid plate does not need to be removed. In fact the frame bends so much that it makes it easier not too.
March 16, 20179 yr RGH450. If you want to know anything you can't find out through normal channels, speak to Kev at GasGas uk . 01298 766813 What he doesn't know, you can write on a postage stamp. very approachable . You can do either but ,i've removed loads of them and i find it far easier to disassemble by removal of the sump shield. It's easier to man handle. Getting the sump sheild back on after can be really hard work though because they bend like hell so you might have to straighten it somewhat. Edited March 16, 20179 yr by shyted
March 17, 20179 yr Author Thanks All done, came out a lot easier than I thought. Left Radiator and sump plate on. Also removed stator so I diddnt have to mess around with the wiring loom.
