Fancy racing your trials bike?

Plenty of well know present and retired trials riders attended this event. Strange that not to far from here traditional trials events that used to attract well over 100 entries (Alan Jeffries and CCMC Velocette cup) struggle to get a fraction of that now.

Lots of trials riders have also moved to Enduro in recent years. Given enduro bikes cost more as do Enduro entry fees then we can say this isn't related to cost.

The age profile of trials has to be a concern in the UK,  why does it no longer appeal to young people to the extent it did say 30 years ago?

No Junior Kickstart on the TV? (and if there was, nobody would watch it given the current media marketing for kids)

Kids rode trials before junior kickstart. In the north east enough kids rode for three clubs to run separate youth championships of six events over the summer.

It's not severity either, at the lowest level of difficulty trials now are as easy as the 70s but with modern bikes ?

I grew up in Cornwall SURROUNDED by motorbikes, but had it not been for Kick Start I wouldn't have known what trials was at all.  It was all scrambling for kids (well, boys. I wasn't welcome) at that time.

Not many in their teens and twenties have the disposable income. If they are lucky enough to have a job, they are likely spending a much larger percentage of income on housing and transport costs than their parents were 30 years ago. It's a shame trials is a hard sell to older people as well. I know loads of middle aged enduro and trail riders who would enjoy trials if they gave it a go and got over the initial hurdles of riding a different bike and learning to read the flags on the sections. These middle agers would bring their offspring, as well as their time, money and land into the sport.

It can't be money for all of them are f they are taking up enduro instead which is more expensive
