Acu Licence Fee Too Cheap

I know I'm leaving my self open to a slating here but why should your average club man have to spend more so that the odd one or two talented youths can benefit? I realise that they should get support but I dont' think it's fair that it should come from the pockets of other riders!

I ride about 6 trials a year... haven't had an acu licence for about 6 years... if it goes up anymore i will be even less inclined to get one. Trials is a cheap motor sport that most of the club riders use as a day away from the missus!! .. start telling them that they have to pay for the top riders and i know where they will tell you to stick your licence....

To try and explain a few simple facts to r2wtrials and like minded riders. The whole point in having a trials registration (or 'licence')is that with that simple exceedingly cheap to obtain piece of card comes all important third party insurance cover at all trials you enter. From an organisers point of view we are held responsible should any accidents to other people (spectators etc) or damage to fences, vehicles etc occur during a trial. So long as riders who enter the events have a trials registration card these eventualities are covered by the ACU under the permit that is granted for that event.

All very boring for you lads who want a cheap thrash around the hills but non the less essential for those of us who put our names on official documents and are held responsible whilst you enjoy yourself. Food for thought and please give a thought to the wider picture and for Gods sake GET A LICENCE. I will even do it for you if you let me have your details !

then stick it up 20 quid or so & how many more won't bother. As you're stood in the que to enter "what's your number mate so I can get one that looks summat right on me entry form?"

I've only just noticed this thread...

I want to support and promote youth riders but I would be pi**ed off if it was made compulsory via an increase in my ACU licence fee! In fact, I can't believe anyone could be that naive to even suggest it! Stealth 'Sunday' Tax for the lads and lasses that just want to escape from the wife/husband and kids for the day? B)

Supporting a promising youth rider HAS to be a voluntary choice, buying them a rear Michelin or Dunlop now and again is much appreciated and better than now

Very true - remember there are many AMCA riders in the south - no licence required. Increasing licence cost will just increase this number. ACU should scrap licence/reg & just charge fees on a per trial basis. It would cost me more - but does encourage the casual rider more. And everyone pays........
