Coolant change

Recommended Posts

I have to replace a water pipe on my bike that was damage. So I want to change my radiator fluid.

I am worry about the coolant change... Is it easy like other trial? I have read on the manual that for do this job I have to brig the bike to my local shop^^^?

Any one have do it at home?

It is easy.  All I did with mine was fill the radiator, before lifting the front wheel as high as I could to release air trapped in the water pump and its hoses.  Then with the bike level I topped up the radiator again.  Do not tighten the radiator cap more than finger tight.  Run the motor until the fan comes on and check the coolant level again when cool.

What might help; the cylinder head cover has a brass bolt to release trapped air.

Where is that? I don't see a bolt specifically made to bleed the system....

Are you referring to the water temperature sensor?

On my 2017 Ice Hell there is no temperature sensor in the cylinder head, just a brass bolt.

Of course the sensor can be loosened to get the air out :)

Wow, I didn't realize there was this different setup. Thanks a lot!
