does the later 260 4RT have maintenance free valve clearance adjustment such as hydraulic tappets or do they need shims and if so how often , thanks

All 4RTs have screw and locknut valve clearance adjustment.

They don't tend to alter much unless you rev the nuts off it frequently,then they close up which makes it harder to start when hot as the valves don't seal completely
