June 12, 20206 yr I have bought a new fuel tank, with a screw on aluminium cap. However, it came with no gasket to go between the cap and tank. The original tank has a gasket, which looks like silver card. What material to use to make a disc about 43mm diameter, 3mm thick? Thought about using part of a wellington boot. Ideas? Thanks in anticipation. Edited June 13, 20206 yr by stpauls
June 12, 20206 yr Depends on the design of the cap and what it screws onto. Some use a o ring. Some use a flat rubber seal.
June 15, 20206 yr If your looking for the flat type seal. I used one out of a plastic 20lt can cap, (look around the caps come in several sizes), and are generally chemical resistant. Note; anything that has rubber or silicon in its makeup description may swell when in contact with petrol.
