First bike...

You are not going to find anything modern in that price range. But to learn the basics in trials it does not matter. Just know going in you are going to be riding the easier classes until you get real good or buy a newer bike. You have to ride a few events just to see if you like it at all. Just find yourself a vintage bike like a Yamaha TY175. There still is plenty of them around and it`s a great beginner bike, or you might get lucky and find aTY350 mono.

Im not fancy and i don't care much about the aesthetics of it. If i can learn the proper technique its enough to me. Where will be a good place to look for it?.

 They forgot Mule Shoe. ?

Easy to forget.  Dang, you're hitting close to home.  My mother's from Muleshoe and have lots of family in Sudan.  I'm from Amarillo.  Small world.

I'm from Amarillo too, and miss the opportunity to take my new trials bike to Canyon, but living near Pennsylvania now I get some rocks to play on.
I realized very quickly why none of my friends would let me try their trials bike and play with it.  I turned this thing upside down and broke everything on it.  If it could talk, it would have cried out for mercy.  I'm not much better at riding, but much better at stitching plastic together.  So you gotta buy a trials bike to ride a trials bike.  Ok, fine.

So, here's my advice.  Despite the price of the bike, shop all over the US and get the bike you want and if you find a deal, take it!  There are not enough of them used ones around to be quibbling and don't settle.  Get the bike you want.  You are spending good money to have a good time, get a nice modern bike.  You have enough challenge learning this style of riding, get a bike your friends say "that should be a good one for you".    I love vintage and ride with the vintage guys (they are MUCH more fun) but learning trials on a 72 Yamaha is more challenge than I'm looking for as a new trials rider.  I want to try what my friends are doing.

Transport doesn't have to break you, but it will commit you to the bike.   Hard to sell it for what you paid for it PLUS shipping.  But it's not as expensive as you might think.

haulbikes.com got my GasGas from Las Vegas to Washington DC for less than $600 - UNCRATED.  Amazing people.  I even went to the depot to pick it up when the driver called me to arrange delivery the next day (Who could wait another day? not me!) and saw the guts of the operation first hand.  Very professional and well run outfit.  It's all they do, and they do it efficiently, well, and cost effectively.

I love my GasGas Raga and fell in love with the sport.  Two months later, trail riding at a non trials event on my KTM, a fellow pulls a Beta Rev3 out of his van and put a sign on it for less than $2000.  It lasted 9 minutes.   I bought it as the "backup competition/friends get to go" bike and put new plastic on it.  You'll be hard pressed to find the perfect bike, for the perfect price, the perfect driving distance from you.   So, shop all over the US and since you only do this once, find the one you like for your first trials bike, call 800-haulbikes  and enjoy the stuffing out of it.

Nice. But Im in Texas... shipping will be more expensive than the bike....

Did you ever find a bike? What part of Texas are you in? I am south of Houston. Our club STTA is a good place to start, if you are close by. Shipping is not as horrible as you might imagine. You can take a look at the used bikes at the Tryals Shop. Mike occasionally has some lower cost bikes.
