September 19, 20205 yr I've recently bought a 270 Rev 3, 2005 I believe, it rides great and has plenty of power for a novice like myself ? But it seems to take a few good kicks to start, last time I was out on it we swapped a plug to get it going then it ran OK on the original one. Trouble is the plug was very black like its running rich, took the carb apart earlier and it looks like the float height has been set lower (to lean it out I'm guessing) It's only my 3rd time on a bike but a couple of times going down steep hills the engine stalled. Any thoughts on it?
September 22, 20205 yr yes, a low float height could well cause a stall downhill, suggest set carb to original specs including checking all jet sizes, and needle height, also replace the float valve.
September 23, 20205 yr Yeah original float height but 27.5 pilot jet. The Betas are prone to stalling on downhills due to the angle of the carb. The price you pay for running stronger on uphills. After a while you just get used to blipping the throttle going down steeps.
