February 13, 200620 yr Hello, I am a new honda TLR200 driver. After riding good Montesa's ( 2x 348 and later a 311model) i ride some new gasgas bikes, the txt280 and the TXT280Pro 2002 model. This is the point that i didn't like trials no more. 2 hours driving means 4 hours get youre bike fixed for the next ride. I sold my bike because i did not like i anymore. Suddenly i fond my dreambike fore sale. A TLR200 in a not to bad condition. I always wanted this bike bacause its a trial, its a fore stroke whit an amazing sillent smooth sound, and it a Honda. I am going to strip i down an rebuild it new. New piston-valves-camchain-exhaust, and what ever it takes to build my dream completly new. Before stripping it down, i made a testdrive. Boy, that was amazing, my old ridingstyle was comming back on my again. Because of the foodpegs are placed to the back, it feels realy light on te front. I can make 180 turns uphill around a tree, that i could not do whit my gasgas. So the mony i must spent to make the bike perfect is worth every euro. If anyone have any tips for me, please tell my. You can follow the project on my fotoalbum: http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Album=LCDCFURS just copie the link in explorer. Sorry for my bad langage,i from the Netherlands. Thanks, Rob. February 14, 200620 yr Rob, great that you share this with us. At my trialsclub at Apeldoorn, one guy is riding a Tlr. That bike is so smooth on idle, it is just unbelievable. When you can achieve that you are in for a great bike. Looking at the pictures i am enjoying myself very much. Do you need new parts, as the old are beyond help, or is the engine in good condition? Maybe i can see you ride one day.... cheers
February 14, 200620 yr Derek Clampin (eastern ACU presisent is re-building a tlr. He lives down the road from me and so far he has lowered the compression, built a new exhaust and wleded new footrest brackets so that modern pegs can be fitted REALLY nice bikes though (i want a white one!!)
February 14, 200620 yr Author Lowered the compression? Why? Please explain this to me. Edited February 14, 200620 yr by 1985tlr

February 16, 200620 yr Hi, to add some pics of my tlr make over before it's ridden and may not look the same again. Miked
February 16, 200620 yr Author Very nice bike. How does the WES exhaust sounds? Does it makes more nois then the original. I ordered the same one, thats before i saw the REP one. I think the rep looks nicer because its shorter. So i think i am going to shorten te Wes if its possible. What kind of rearshocks do you have, and where did you get them? Greetz Rob
February 16, 200620 yr Sorry I'm missing out on something here, what's the REP exhaust - can someone enlighten me. I need a system and was considering a WES but would like to know about this one as well. Thanks.
February 16, 200620 yr Lowered the compression? Why? Please explain this to me. Lowering the compression on a TLR250 - even if its only a 1mm thick base gasket makes the motor run a lot smoother and less 'jerky'. I was a little sceptical till I tried it on one of my 2 bikes but I am pleased to say that it certainly does make a difference. Gordon
