Hello, I was just wondering if anyone would be able to help me, I used to ride trials three years ago when I was 12 but unfortunately I had to stop due to unfortunate circumstances. It’s coming up to my 16th birthday which is in March and I really want to get back into trials again. I used to ride a Gas Gas 125 and competed every weekend at my clubs events (Surrey School Boys). The decision I am trying to make is whether to get another 125 or a 250, I’m going to be buying this bike myself so it will have to be around £1300. Also what sort of year do you think I would be able to pick up for that sort of money? As I saw a few 04’s and 05’s at around that price but wasn’t too sure.
Thanks

Hi Harrison,
I also have a similar question and wondered whether i could tag my question on with yours ?
My brother is 14 going 15 and im looking to get him his first bike (i've been out of trials for 3 years but looking to get back in)
Would he be able to cope with a 250, or is a 125 really the best bet?
What sort of age range is a 125 good for?
Competition wise, it would only be on a local level
Sorry to hijack your thread harrison but hope thats ok
Matt

If you want to compete with a 250 you need to be aged 17. At 14 and 15 you cannot ride Trials unless you are on a 125 due to insurance implications for the clubs. To clear up the confusion Once a youth reaches 16 they can switch to a bike over 125 even if they have not completed the full year. However Championships usually rule that once you have switched you cannot go back to a 125.
